Hey Friends
here's a new write of a trip to Acadia and North Conway NH from last month. Good times were had and lessons were learned!

In early may 2010 we spent a week climbing around Acadia National Park and North Conway NH. Awesome (mostly) trip. Fun was had, couldn’t ask for better weather or routes. The finish left something to be desired, however. And was something neither would classify as “mostly fun”.
About one month earlier we purchased what we affectionately refer to as “The Beast” or “Beastie” (a 1985 VW vanagon) and we were ready to test it’s mettle against 1 week of climbing in Acadia and New Hampshire. This was not a minuscule drive for a 25yr old vehicle with 185,000 miles on it, and also a vehicle which was never considered to be reliable back in it’s heyday. So far on weekend excursions she’s performed like a prize fighter (well maybe a retired prize fighter). The coolant leak we noticed the day before departure was nothing that would dissuade us. Coolant leaks aren’t anything dumping .5 liter of H2O/day in the reservoir couldn’t fix. And cruising at 65mph max keeps the cops at bay.

Love to see folks enjoying New England charms. RecomBeast is one of my all time favorites, and Old Town is gorgeous. Never did Chtilin' Corner, but your pictures look tempting. Too bad Willow didn't stick with Hotter Than Hell. Once you get to Tranquility crack, the traverse gets tons easier.
