The Height of urban climbing is where vertical exploration in the dense urban wilderness of Center City Philadelphia collide. Three pairs of anchors and three lines of fresh looking bolts venture up the face of a masonry bridge support.

The bolts are under the Girard Ave bridge as it crosses Kelly drive. They are about 1 mile north of Boathouse Row and visible from the Kelly Dr. bouldering wall.

i have been bouldering like this in DC lately-under the train tracks, along side them. Killer hard slopers, and some short dead plumb off finger cracks with cement landings. Also, they can be dry tooled since i am hell-o jonesin out here.

Are there still bolts on the Henry Ave Bridge? Those were stout routes. With about 15 years of road salt, I hope they were SS Bolts...

There were at least two bolted climbs on the east side on the U of Penn campus on train tressels. These climbs led to a singular rap station of slings wrapped around the metal girders. These climbs had the same open shuts that lined the top of Livzey Rock; I suppose they're good as long as you don't fall. Apparently these two 'sport' climbs were put up in the 1970's. I never did the routes because someone got thrown in the pokie while I was in school in Philly for attempting these climbs.
