CANOE TRIP DOWN THE SACO RIVER, MAINE 2014!

My guy wanted to go to the Saco River in Maine and canoe on a pack trip, so we did it. It rained from the moment we put our paddles in the asi asi dirty-ish water of the river. The last time I'd attempted to canoe down the Saco River was when I was 8 years old in 1969, and here I was years and years later ready to tackle her again, but I wished at that moment as we put the boats in the water, that Fred Ziel was with us. Of course he'd never be with us, seeing as I dated his younger brother years ago and caused quite a scene, but now all is well, I am married to an adventurous director named Lewis Hauser. So there we are going down the Saco River with a guide. It was rough going, but the rain was steady when we made camp, started dinner and put up our pup tents. By the time we had steak and potatoes going, it was pouring. In the end, around 3am, the rangers came and whisked us all away, canoes and all in station wagons and all terrain vehicles. But it was fun, the meal was good and for a split second as I nestled my body close to hubby's, I felt safe as if even God couldn't stop crying to ruin that close feeling to me and hubby and the earth.

Seems like so many of us here have followed similar paths,
the Saco -
The Suck-0!
The trip that I took in 'unknown times'
1973? If I talk to the sister that is in Hollywierd,
She may know but who really cares ?
The outdoor industries,
Worst of the worst list has the Saco high up on it,
The trip I took got off on the wrong step as well, when the counselor left the fresh water up stream after going ashore to pee and share out the supplies with his girl and her girlfriend. I was some where around 11 or 12yrs old at the time and did not know of girls kissing girls or boys who. . .
See it was a memorable trip !

OMG I went down Saco River in 1973 as well. Was the camp you went to CAMP SUNNINGDALE? That's when I went for the first time. And as you said it was a disaster. Wow, it rained, a few canoes toppled over and everyone was scared and sad. But I felt so safe back then. But this trip we took down Saco River is described by you as if you might have been with you in '73. You got that right. I won't go back. It's a disaster ready to happen. Dirty, rotten, and polluted. I hope Everest never gets that bad.

Sorry, no not Sunningdale, - I will see about a name.
The trip I was on did five disciplines in nine weeks,
The Sac/ Canoe water camp segment was the, rest days after climbing and I jumped ship at the first chance , and wet back with 'staff' to New Hampshire.
I did less than the whole week, thus not qualifying for some sailing before a ten day sail on a old schooner style 'tall 'ship.
I was thrilled with this arrangement and made a memorable climbing trip out of my camp suspension.
The Whitney Gilman route on cannon was one of the climbs I did , as well as some climbing at the Slabs at white Horse ledge in New Hampshire.
If as I read it you are starting to get back into the very technical side
(or just starting vertical roped?). That you look at both of these, also the climbing,
at a cliff called ???Childs Play?? As well as of course Cathedral ledge NH.
Hey Brandon do ya' have a clue what I'm thinking of an old school 5.9 crack good for learning aid and aid to free moves??
Any way Blogger Queen, try as I might the Name Camps name? OUT POST Or some thing is all that comes to mind.
The idea that you imply , that Everest is a goal is a lofty one. The the summit is reached by steps that have already been taken stay inspired,
let me say to you in the finest and meaning it in both the metaphysical and the literal,
But don' worry I 'm Buddhaisticlly inclined to believe in reincarnation so. . .
Your gonna die!

I almost drowned in the Saco river many years ago, as I took out a guy's canoe and proceeded to capsize it. I still don't know how to swim,
but at least I'm not afraid of heights!

Not bad, sort of "stream of conscious" style of writing. I've definitely seen worse on the old taco.
