A Fat Slice of Humble Pie - The Needles

Twitch… Twitch… Twitch… I could tell, it was time to go to THE NEEDLES! Who better to call than Roberto? I hadn’t really been climbing outdoors all summer due to full time work and full time class, and I had just received brand new shiny Totem Cams to review. Where better to test them out than the Needles where Roberto and I both intended to whip?

I finally got around to soloing Airy Interlude:
Roberto got on his first solo, approaching Terrorvision and Nautilus:
I almost got seriously injured or worse getting off route on Wicked West of the Witch:
All in all, a good trip!

wow, first I've seen or heard of the totem's taking big whips.
The cam looks pretty mangled...would you still be stoked to refer totem cams to a friend?

I think that damage might look worse than it is. It was VERY superficial and I've been climbing on them ever since. They are awesome cams and I love using them! There is a review I posted on pullharder.org a few months ago if you scroll down through the trip reports.

Great photos, great share. Shares like this are the lifeblood of the Taco.
I'm kind of with Crimpergirl about the Humble Pie thing, and I mean it in a good way.
"The climbing isn’t difficult, so there’s not much of a point in roping up, but you do cover hundreds of feet of rock."
What's humble about that? ;)

I think if you had seen me literally crawling on all fours out of the gulley you would have understood how humble we felt. Or maybe Roberto trying to shoot footage and his hand visibly shaking. Or the fact I almost died getting off route. It was humbling, and I'll be a little more cautious next time I'm out there.
