Although more known for snow and ice peaks like Denali and Mt. Foraker, the Alaska Range is also home to enormous amounts of world class rock climbing. The Ruth Gorge alone holds enough rock for an entire lifetime of climbing. Mt. Dickey itself is like plopping Half Dome on top of El Capitan. Also of interest to rock climbers is Little Switzerland, a smaller grouping of solid granite peaks just south of Denali. This slideshow gives a sampling of some of the great routes to be climbed in North America’s alpine climbing mecca!
