Did this once a few years ago. I thought the technical crux was before the tree, and from what I remember, hitting the tree did not seem very likely. Fell just before the last bolt, and was so disappointed that I didn't onsight my first Yosemite 11. Seemed a little hard, but hey, thats what Yosemite is for right? Overall well worth a stop if you like long/technical vertical sport routes.

just because it's hard doesn't mean it sucks. It kicked my ass but I thought it was really fun. It's the Energizer. it just keeps going and going and...

Well, I fell about ten time right above the tree. You swing out and to the right. I'd keep walking though. This route was more frustrating (humbling?) than fun.

I've always eyed this route, but not tried it because of what looks to be the high probability of hitting that big branch and the 4th or 5th bolt - would a fall be clean from there?

Maybe I hated this route because it kicked my ass, but...this did not feel like .11b. Especially when compared with other sport (or "face" if you prefer) routes of a similar or harder grade in the valley.
Bring your edging shoes. The falls are clean.

*What is "Route Beta"?
It's climber slang for information or tips on a route as in, "what's
the beta on that route?" As a service to fellow climbers we ask SuperTopo
guidebook users to post tips and updates to this website if they have relevant
information to share after a climb.
