FA: Mark Austin and Dave Jones, 1985. FFA: Mugs Stump and Lynn “Wheels” Wheeler, 2/91.Freezer Burn is the original name, Free or Burn came after the free ascent. This line has excellent and wild pitches. The easiest feature on this route to see from the road is the hand crack on Pitch 4. It has a large bush growing out of it at the base. Free or Burn is bordered by prominent crack systems on both sides. The crack on the right is a chimney and has not yet seen an ascent; the crack on the left is Birthday Bash. Both of these cracks start about a third of the way up and parallel each other. The route starts from a sandy alcove several hundred feet up some 4th class terrain. Many of the bolts on the route were added subsequent to the first ascent, allowing for a more enjoyable and safe free climbable outing. Rack: see topo. Descent: rappel the route.
