Overview
One of the steepest 5.8?s in Yosemite, yet for some reason always overlooked, Nurdle sees little traffic. Link the first two pitches with a 60m rope and you?ll have perhaps the best single 5.8 pitch that is easily accessed in Yosemite. A very short offwidth pod is often climbed around on the first pitch, but it is easy and a good place to introduce yourself to this mandatory Yosemite skill. The second pitch has beautiful, steep crack climbing with a mantel as a finger crack runs out ? yet it is easier than it looks and definitely easier than the mantel on the last pitch of Nutcracker. With everything from hand cracks to finger cracks to steep giant jugs, Nurdle is an excellent route, and by setting up a 2-rope toprope, awesome 5.10 terrain is waiting below the top pitch anchor.
