Lost World/Squeeze Play, El Capitan A3 5.7 |

Yosemite Valley, California USA | ||
|
Avg time to climb route: 4 days
Approach time: 1 hour Descent time: 5 hours Number of pitches: 20 Height of route: 2000' Overview
Lost World is an obscure moderate that gets you away from the crowds. It climbs 8 pitches of big corners and 3 pitches of mainly bolts before finishing on West Buttress/Lurking Fear for 9 pitches. If you do the 5 pitch Squeeze Play variation, most of the climbing is C1 and C2 with one crux traverse pitch that is A3 but will likely go clean (C3+?). The route has been climbed with as few as four piton placements. This is not a mega classic and does have some awkward pitches. But it also has one awesome corner pitch (on Squeeze Play) and overall follows obvious natural features (it is not a "modern" route that joins tiny features with rivets). All the anchor bolts have been replaced and the lead bolts and rivets are in good shape.Photos
