Overview
Imagine climbing up a 6-foot diameter water pipe that has been cut in half; that is The Groove. The climbing involves large dikes, lieback moves and loads of stemming on a near vertical wall. On the first pitch, the climbing is sustained at 5.7 until a brief 5.8 section near the anchor. The second pitch starts with tricky routefinding and a 10-foot runout to a heady 5.7 mantel. The difficulties then ease.
