The Falls

Party all night, boulder, and swim all day! The name is a bit misleading since there are no actual waterfalls here larger than a few feet high, but there are a lot of small cascading falls. This is one of the last great places in Nor Cal to find free camping next to a pristine swimming hole with tons of boulders. The rocks are so polished that you will either love them or hate them, but you should enjoy the challenge. After climbing the slick stone you will have new techniques in your bag of tricks like extreme friction technician and controlled foot paddling! There are also a few classic test piece projects for the future. This place is alive with good vibes. The crystal clear water has a mild temp for swimming and an abundance of happy wildlife like frogs, snakes, and fish that like to hang out. Please respect the area and as always Leave No Trace.

Free camping can be found along the Eel River and in the nearby Mendocino National Forest - pay attention for no camping or trespassing signs and respect all rules and regulations and locals.

Pay camping is available at the Eel River Campground across from the Black Butte Store at the main intersection.
