Lake Tahoe Bouldering, California, USA
Approach time: 7 minutes
Season: April-November Number of problems: 19 Type of rock: Granite Overview
The area around the Deli Slicer looks like God got surly drunk one night, grabbed his 12 gauge and pumped a few rounds of buckshot into the hillside. There’s so many damn boulders out here you’ll never do all the problems – I don’t care if you live to be a hundred. Fortunately, most of them are undeveloped and obscure, otherwise this guide would be the size of a dictionary. I have no idea how this thing got its name. It doesn’t really matter – the thing to remember is that this is good stuff. Positive edges on golden patina, a hillside location with views of Christmas Valley and a seven-minute approach. The traverse in the corridor behind the main boulder is absolutely classic and plenty hard. The boulders face west and get afternoon sun. Climb here in the morning in warm weather and in the afternoon in winter. Notable Bouldering Problems
