Bay Area Bouldering, California, USA
Approach time: 5 minutes
Season: Year Round Number of problems: 10 Type of rock: Chert Overview
In the hills on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge, overlooking the mouth of the Bay and the breathtaking Pacific Coast are a few good problems on a big chert boulder known as Genocide Rock. A couple tweaky, slabby traverses, a couple short, steep sit starts, and a few highball face climbs can be found on this huge multi-angled boulder. The rock quality is good but not perfect so if you need to, a toprope can be set up for the highballs using gear, slings and old hangerless bolts. On a clear day the popular Conzelman Rd. that leads to the boulder from Hwy. 101 is lined with tourists snapping photos of the awesome views. Notable Bouldering Problems
