Bay Area Bouldering, California, USA
Approach time: 5-10 minutes
Season: Year Round Number of problems: 10 Type of rock: Schist Overview
Views of Point Reyes and Bodega Head, surfing The Shark Pit at the mouth of Tomales Bay, and the unique slot pocketed schist boulders on the quiet north end of Dillon Beach make the out of the way drive worth it. The large boulder with the rusty old bolt ladder known as the Stud Ladder is the main spot. The wall that faces away from the ocean with the Stud Ladder also has the classic Dillon Beach Traverse (V3) and a lot of good up problems, all of which down climb the slabby 5.7R/X south east arête. The west (ocean) side of the main boulder has a few new highball problems just established during the making of this guide. The landing under the west face is so rocky that two to three pads and one spotter is the minimum to be safe and even then that’s only with the hang and drop finishes. With the V0x topouts no amount of pads or spotters will save you. Notable Bouldering Problems
Stud Ladder V1 or V2, Dillon Beach Traverse V3, Bouncer V5, Tribute V4r Photos
