Avg time to climb route: 4-8 hours
Approach time: 3-6 hours Descent time: 3-6 hours Number of pitches: 11 Height of route: 1000' Overview
The East Buttress may be the most popular climb in the High Sierra. While it does not have the well-known history of the East Face, it is arguably a better route. Unlike the East Face, which makes challenging traverses between long sections of 3rd class, the East Buttress climbs a sustained arête with short 5.6 or 5.7 sections on almost every pitch. The route involves 20-foot doses of steep and exposed terrain between sections of ledgy climbing.
