Overview
This is one of the best face climbs at Red Rocks. While the route is 5.7, a runout and slightly loose start combined with fragile holds high on the pitch, make Shaeffer’s Delight a somewhat serious lead. Anyone unsure of their abilities should climb the first pitch of the Unknown route to its left and toprope Shaeffer’s Delight before leading it.

History
When first climbed in 1984 this was a single-pitch face route. George’s friend, Mike Petrilak, was an avid climber and mountaineer whose mobility had been reduced by a broken hip suffered in the Tetons. George placed the protection bolts, then retreated so that his friend would have the pleasure of the first lead. Mike named the route after Schaeffer’s Beer, his favorite beverage.
