Bear Valley is a hidden gem of granite boulders in a classic Sierra setting. Nestled in between Tahoe to the north and Sonora Pass and Yosemite to the south, it has a good mix of challenging, enjoyable problems as well as uncharted territory. The main area called Hell’s Kitchen, is a roadside playground with over 100 problems from T(T = Toddler) and VB to V10. Every summer one of only a few outdoor bouldering competitions in America is held at Hell’s Kitchen. The Bear Valley Boulder Bash is for all ages and abilities, from kids and beginners to pros, and has great prizes and a raffle/barbecue afterward.
