I would love to see Trump sit in front of a Congressional Committee for eleven hours answering questions about Russia as Clinton did about bullshit Benghazi.

Werner Braun, the only respect I have for you is that you used Bridwell's (and others) techniques for rescue. They were not your own, but you utilized them for great effect and many rescues, I tip my hat to you for that dickhead.
But as I found over the weeks and months of hanging in C4 and the campfires, you were yourself a hanger on initially. But I still respect your contribution to YOSAR, whether you want my respect or not, you have it. Yet, your attitude along with several others, is one reason I decided to stop hanging in the Valley. I do not need egos and I do not need bullsh#t.
EDIT
I always thought climbers were cool people, guys and gals (I climbed with Molly several times). But having been around C4, I found some sociopaths, I only hope I was not one of them.
The best C4 person I roped up with? Charlie Porter. No doubt. Ed Barry, not far along except for the hornets, hah hah.

The Authentic Appeal of the Lying Demagogue: Proclaiming the Deeper Truth about Political Illegitimacy
Abstract We develop and test a theory to address a puzzling pattern that has been discussed widely since the 2016 U.S. presidential election and reproduced here in a post-election survey: how can a constituency of voters find a candidate “authentically appealing” (i.e., view him positively as authentic) even though he is a “lying demagogue” (someone who deliberately tells lies and appeals to non-normative private prejudices)? Key to the theory are two points: (1) “common-knowledge” lies may be understood as flagrant violations of the norm of truthtelling; and (2) when a political system is suffering from a “crisis of legitimacy” (Lipset 1959) with respect to at least one political constituency, members of that constituency will be motivated to see a flagrant violator of established norms as an authentic champion of its interests. Two online vignette experiments on a simulated college election support our theory. These results demonstrate that mere partisanship is insufficient to explain sharp differences in how lying demagoguery is perceived, and that several oft-discussed factors—information access, culture, language, and gender—are not necessary for explaining such differences. Rather, for the lying demagogue to have authentic appeal, it is sufficient that one side of a social divide regards the political system as flawed or illegitimate.

Trump is ramping up the use of his personal, unsecured cellphone to bypass the White House switchboard and to avoid leaving a record of who he calls.
Chief of Staff John Kelly is being pushed out of the loop, when it comes to people contacting the president. Trump is hiding his outside contacts from his staff. He may soon want a Cone of Silence, like Scott Pruitt has in his office.
Trump's use of a personal, unsecured cellphone allows foreign spies to eavesdrop on him. Almost anybody can intercept his calls. He is a White House leaker whenever he's on his cellphone.
Trump is still complaining about Hillary's personal email server, which was apparently never compromised by the Russians.
Another implication of Trump's private cell phone use, Cunningham noted, is the possibility that Trump's conversations may not be "captured for the purposes of government accountability and history."
Accountability and history are two things that Trump has contempt for.

The idea that the best, the brightest, the very brain trust of the progressive left is getting their asses handed to them by Bozo the Clown is funny beyond belief.

Even funnier is that with every passing day the very people who voted for trump are getting f*#ked further up the a*# in every conceivable economic and consumer rights way.

Dr Sumner? Who dat?
Rick? Prick? Dick? Pinky?
It is easy to confuse us progressive libs. I am Patrick, but that could be Patdick. Doesn't bother me what others call me. I know who and what I am.
Progressive libs who may have stopped your Corvair from toasting you, or Three Mile Island, or infecting your Love Canal.
Come on, we need level-headed conservatives and liberals to balance the scale. Extremists, alt-right or alt-left, should have minimal input in a free-thinking democracy. Outside ideas? Input? Yes.
Stupid conspiracy theories that belong to the Twilight Zone, the Outer Limits.
Hmmm, think about them but don't dwell on them.
I am an idealist. But for some reason, reality touches me. In a big way. A YUGE way.
I am having a good time. There is no dry rock to climb so I pontificate, urinate and defecate. I hope I am not too vulgar. The Vulgarians were from the East Coast, the Gunks I think.
EDIT
The only thing that Trump has given this world, are some interesting words. Yuge, "like I have Yuge hands and a yuge… ask Stormy". And cofete, coveteie, co-something. Maybe Sir Don meant confetti. Or coffee. To wake him up at 4 in the morning so he can tweet to his heart's desire.
Donald Trump is screwing America. Yet, having said that, he has disrupted 'things' that needed disrupted. But a better person could have done that without the baggage he carries. He gives new meaning to Mafia Don.
And Tom, the architecture ideas were not his. Trump did no construct great buildings as you claim. Your claim made me want to look at Trump's real estate holdings, buildings, etc etc. My research shows that Trump is not a genius on that matter.
If Trump is a 'genius', it is on self-branding, self-marketing and screwing (literally, figuratively and financially) others. Look at his background. This is not (only) a political thought. Long before he aspired to be the most powerful man on the earth (he must wank at that in his golden toilets), he was under scrutiny for many years.
Deals were made to save his ass. The facts, the records, the court dealings are there in public.
The guy should be in prison, not the White House. This is not conspiracy theory. Look it up. I could provide links, but by researching it yourselves, on any platform, perhaps it may lead…
EDIT
By the way, Putin is the most powerful person on this earth, not the POS/POTUS currently holding that 'title'. That is how I see it.

And as far as Irish weather is concerned, 2018 went by so fast, I cannot believe it is December.
Friday and Saturday were lovely, the best summer I have ever spent.
I love this forum.
EDIT
And in Camp 4, Sunnyside, I always left (1972-1976) my good gear in the truck/van/car. Not in my tent. So any scumbags could only steal my sleeping bag (as happened twice, and my Thermarest. Why did I not learn after the first time? Too trusting I suppose). Nice.
No I mean, I'd rather be in Nice in France. Jennie lived there for years. We hung out there.
Climbers are no different than anybody else. There are good, and there are bad.
I love the feel of rock on my hands, the crunch of ice (I take my Powers neat, please). I never saw it as a competition, between me and other humans, between me and nature. Who gets the first ascent, who punches out somebody in the car park. Who is the best. Nada, to me.
To me, climbing is a love.
EDIT
Can I just add, I never used my Ibex (North Face) sleeping bag in C4. I still have it since 1969. The bags stolen were Snow Lion and Sierra Designs.

10b4me, stop it. I laughed so hard my coffee, well it went into my sleeve not onto the Macbook.
There is something about buyer's remorse that comes to mind.
And I always liked Bozo, he was a good clown, unlike the clown in the White House. Orange must be the favored color of clowns (no reference to the North, okay, maybe some).

The "progressive" left has had their whine cranked up to 11, since November 9, 2016. It's been a shrill constant.
And what's been gotten them? The country is more divided than any time since the Civil War. Even with a putz in the White House, the Dems have been ineffective in gaining ground. I guess bitching and moaning isn't the best approach.
Trump sucks! The Republicans sucks! The Democrats aren't much better.

The level of corruption is at all levels. Obviously, those policrats that shovel $$ to the military industrial complex and of course, Ma and Pa on Main St who turn a blind eye to our violent world actions and remain comfy in their sprinterless vans and B52 haircuts and flatbills. As much as nobody gets outa here alive, nobody has clean hands in the USofA and if you think you do, you are just arrogant and hella judgemental. It is quite easy to see if you employ a little humility and I think Braun's point is exactly that, especially when you stir in the materialism that is the common thread that holds the citizens together in the USoA.

Good day, Edward!
you have not been keeping up on your current affairs reading?
you have not noticed that the "Dems" have been winning elections all over the country
including in very traditionally held Republican seats
that is called "gaining ground", try that new thing out called an internet search engine

Trump golfed instead of going to Barbara Bush’s funeral.
There was a time when the President of the US did the right things, was gracious and humble.
No longer.
