sorry, just posting out loud.

ok, hacked one end off my rat chewed rope to make it 30m instead of 60m.

I have dubbed it my "Woodson TR Rope"

still probably not dialed in precise Woodson local length, but it will do.

now to see about finding some 1" tubular for a swami... (just kidding, I ain't that crazy, but i may bust out the old Shweenard Whillans knock off, if I fit in it.)

That gave me an idea! Everyone (back-in-the-day crowd) show up with red, 4" tubular for a swami and a piece of carpet...NO PADS ALLOWED! Well, okay, somebody bring one pad so I don't rebreak my ankle again (ice climbing fall, '07).

THERE! At the bottom of the notes, "Pit Bull", a Ray Olson creation up at the summit, just over the ridge on the south face. Overhanging L to R flake to a sloping topout. Getting to the TR anchor is the first crux! This was put up many years before the Pit Bull on Tower #1.

I didnt know Ray named a route Pit Bull...Me and Michael Paul did the little ditty we called pit bull on tower one in 1986. I was actively collecting route info in those days and not many new ones got by me, especially stuff my friends put up. I cant believe a ray olsen route slipped under my radar!

Now Ron, I was just going by what circulated up on Woodson about the same time in '85-'86. I recall a friend of mine, Ken Klis out of Rancho Bernardo at that time, brought me up to show me this new Ray Olson route called "Pit Bull" 5.11 up at the summit. But now that you're saying that the Tower #1 route was put up around the same time, it's starting to sound as if this was misinterpreted for the other. But that makes me wonder now, what is the name of the route at the summit, who did it, and when? You know, even Ray doesn't recall putting this route up but states that he could of but just doesn't remember. I've mentioned this "Pit Bull" a few times on supertopo and haven't had anyone chime in or claim it. When your post of Pit Bull appeared on rc.com, "Submitted by: ronamick on 2002-12-05", I assumed (I know, I know) this was the date it went up and jumped to conclusions, and hence my, "...put up many years before..." statement, my bad.

I'll have to make the trudge back up there and take a picture of it and post it.

Humility, good stuff!

Hey!

How did I lose the coveted position #7? What's up with that?

Not that it matters.

I smell a conspiracy!

Klimmer, I went from #12 down into the sixties,

I wouldn't mind slipping a few more, 69 has always been a personal favorite of mind

Illusion, I could be wrong, but if Ray didn't put up pit bull at the top, it might have been the same guys that put up those leads over by fall semester. They are the ones that took me over to do it. Eddie Bebout? and his buddies?

Another perfect day at Woodson, cold in the shade. Got on Laker girls with the button head and rusty stud for the anchor. Not bad till the blank section sraight up to the anchors. Do you go straight up or out right where there are holds. Here are some pics of a couple of climbs. Anyone know them?
