A bit ironic posting this here since Hartouni apparently doesn't like me linking Joe Rogan so much, but I thought one or two here might find this worthy. It concerns AI and automation, high tech, job displacement, success markers beyond GDP, happiness and fulfillment, reconstituting meaning, Andrew Yang and UBI (universal basic income)...

Personally, I thought this discussion was very substantive.

"Some confuse Universal Basic Income with socialism. Socialism is when you nationalize the means of production. UBI is capitalism where income does not start at zero. Rather than spend tax income on bureaucracy it is given directly to people." -Andrew Yang

Whatever you think of Joe Rogan, the video is worth watching. Its mainly Andrew Yang speaking. Watch the first 30 minutes or so to understand his main point of view on the subject of IA taking jobs and the need for Universal basic income.

I don't know enough about the idea of universal basic income to know whether he is on point or not, but his is an interesting point of view.

And he is running for President. So you can find out who he is and what he believes in.

John, good to see you enjoyed it.

One bit about Joe Rogan. The Joe Rogan of today is NOT the Joe Rogan of five years ago, let alone 10. Find out for yourselves, research him.

This from ncse.com Edit to incl more of quote.

If we have Universal Gravity now, then universal health care will be sure to follow. It is this kind of universalism that saps a nation's moral fiber. It is not even clear why we need a theory of gravity: there is not a single mention in the Bible, and the patriotic Founding Fathers never referred to it.

---sound logic 101, just apply if this, then that. Gravity, health care, and basic income are all related to each other---they each sap moral fiber because they are universal. LOL.

Here's an example of moral fiber.
