If I remember correctly the last El Cap protest jump ended in a fatality when a woman using a borrowed rig didn't deploy her chute because she was used to a different setup. I don't think it sent the right message.

Ok, how about this excuse . . .

Tell them BASE jumping is an act of faith in your Religion. Start "The First BASE Jump Church of GOD," and that you have to jump because it is a requirement and the most sacred act of your faith according to your religious beliefs.

Claim your 1st Amendment Rights. The most sacred act of Faith, and a rite of passage according to your religion and according to your beliefs is to jump from El Cap and land in El Cap Meadow wearing a wingsuit. You are practicing for when you become Angels by flying your wingsuits.

You could even bring a lawsuit against the NPS when they try to deny you your religious rights.

Hey, it could work.

Ok, ok, how about this one . . .

"Yes sir officer. That's right. I had to jump and quickly fly down wearing a wingsuit to my parked vehicle because I realized I left unsecured food in my car. My bad? I accidentally forgot about safely storing and putting the food in a bear-box. Oops. I didn't want to break the law and I knew I better get down there as fast as possible, and make things right. I wanted to avoid any damage, and I certainly didn't want to cause any problems or harm for the ancestors or buddies of bear #46. I care about doing the right thing. I care about the bears. You have to admit it was the fastest way down. In an emergency and to save lives, you got to do what you got to do. I did it for the bears."

Yes! This is what they taught us in Business Law.

There is no such thing as slander and libel on the internet, because anyone can post on the internet.

Slanderers and libelers take note. Those that post bad reviews about businesses on Yelp, your reviews are legit and you can't be sued for it.

Thanks Elcap man.

Hey y'all,

Just down after two weeks of big wall camping on the wall. What's the latest? Any new news?

Cheers,
Pete

Edit: Several beers on the bridge, and a really good $3 bottle of chard later, precludes me from reading the previous two or three hundred posts....

Is it possible for you to just ask a simple question without informing everybody of your "accomplishments"?

Well, you may be right.

But I've been listening to this guy for 10 years. Trust me, his only interest is in his own self promotion.

I don't like people who spray. Especially when they stand in the shadows of giants.

Watching him "work the floor" at the Jose Pereyra memorial was nothing short of sickening.

"Hi, I'm pass the pitons pete...." With just about any well known respected wall climber there. Believe me, there were a ton.

"He's just passin'' the penis...."

Snicker....

Not disagreeing with that Alister, just don't like spraying. That's where he is the true master.

Pete, you should be a spokes person for an irrigation or deep well pump company.

Hey Pete, how about in the future you just say, "Hi, been a way a while. How's Ammon doing?"

Since you have been in the Valley, I would imagine you could get all the news that's fit to print.

haa haa! You're joking, but if you aren't and he really told you that, it's time to hire a real lawyer.

Rokjox-
I love your idea about massive civil disobedience! Here's the embellishment to drive the LEOs crazy: everyone shows up on the ground wearing a wingsuit and parachute. There would be too many look-alike wannabe jumpers to determine who the jumpers were. Say 10 jumpers, and a hundred wearing what appears to be wingsuits.... Just an evil thought from my fevered brain!

Ammon is using the public defender again.

Rachel Hill
Assistant Federal Defender
2300 Tulare Street, Suite 330
Fresno, CA 93721-2226
Telephone: 559-487-5561

Sure does talk a lot of smack though.

Oh, and my attorney said it was ok to post here because it’s only the internet and it doesn’t count, haa haa

I already know the rangers are planning on lying about what happened, I have nothing to hide (unlike them), so I feel like I can talk as much as I want. Their edited version of video isn't the only video out there.

It will all be hashed out in the civil case... life is grand!

Money to hire that civil lawyer?? ACLU won't take your case.

I still foresee that Ammon will sign the plea and this will be over.

Whoever he is he makes a cogent point. If Ammon can't afford a defense attorney how is he going to retain a civil rights attorney to go after the NPS?

I know something about what an uphill battle that is.

It is not that I am against it; quite the contrary. It is good to hold their feet to the fire when accountability is called for.

Perhaps when the criminal case is concluded we will better be able to understand this debacle.

Previous research and a few meetings have confirmed that the federal public defenders are well vetted and a cut above ordinary PDs. They are probably better than many of the private attorneys within reach of Yosemite and more familiar with the federal stuff anyway.

Wishing a graceful navigation of the system for the monkey

A big fat uncontested judgement along with apology and check are as good as in Ammon's pocket already.

Hey, I haven't the time to read the whole thread, but remember the gambler? Frank Gambalie was murdered by the system.
