Tar you look pretty damn straight yourself there firing California night - but, I'm not that surprised. If there was an award for rock-climber with all-time best form you'd probably win it - I know I done seen it...

Shucks Ray.
I'll report I'm still pretty sore!

I gotta say the best thing goin' is to see your buddies, 30 years down the pike, looking and sounding pretty much just as you remember them; truth is we're all relics and that makes it even more special.

Really, really cool to see everybody.

RE:
"You were all-game-full-on plugged in, solo, with the most stunning concentration -such an inspiration of focus and power."

when I met the Watusi at Woodson in like '76, he so completely blew my doors off I almost quite right there. Most, no all, of my years climbing were training so that hopefully I could someday imitate his performance from that first day. True.

I'm pissed about Gibson.

Looking at these pictures, crying and laughing...
I can tell myself, this time, I really did something right.
Being at that place, at that time, was like the perfect storm.

more cool pics - gonamuck, dude you look pretty well preserved...

crusher - here's the pack pic you mentioned -
this might be a Chouinard "Thousand Series" pack (2000 or 3000?) with certain changes made after I left Ventura to go drink gin and tonics with Harding in the valley...
that would explain the colored webbing and the changes (I think) to the lid performed by Mike Schonhofen.

Mountain Equipment Co-Op (Vancouver) made and sold my original Thousand series packs (under their label) unchanged for a long time, like 15 years or something. YC never liked them (me) but clearly the Canadian market did.

OK, my fingers are starting to move again, so I'm on.

Ray, RE: 'thriftiness', I'm not a cheap bastard. I would be more than willing to dig some Buffalo nickels out of the garden to upgrade to an '86 swami if the price is right. I'm 'in talks' with a museum in Salt Lake City to take my '82 on loan. Notice the Kinnaloa chalk bag?

Aging secrets/Deals with the Devil: I'm a 51 yr old virgin, still jealous? I'd accept a few grey hairs to climb like some of these old farts. Don't know if I'd go as far as the Chromedome Cowboy...

Piggot sightings cofirmed, he even almost looked me in the eye. I'm not worthy.

Epi,Diablo and I staggered out to Cuyamaca Sun AM, duct taped our hands to Mt Bike bars and had a rippin' 4.5 hour ride. Great finish to a blast of a weekend.

Gotta figger out the pic posting thing, I've got a couple to add. BH

that's swell someone printed up those - is it a bandana? - for this event - next year we could put bvb on it :)

BeeHay - what can I say - that's a funnyass post...since you and Ron Amick have not yet been killed due to antique harness failure you might as well go for it, climb in the thing another 20 and see if it makes it. That's the official Manufacturer recommendation.

Hey Greg, how do I load the film in this thing?

There ain't no film Kevin, nowadays you only get to look at your pictures on a little screen on the back of the camera.

Ray, I just remembered that when I bought that thing, you said it would last "the rest of your life".

Jeff, do you always have to get in front of me when the cameras appear? Are you related to Al Sharpton?
