Museum, that view of yours never seems to get better!
But the rest of you are doing just fine -- nice photos, all.
Blue sky, green pines, red buds on the maples outside my window this morning. A huge tom turkey
waddled across the road as I drove home the other day. I hear the black bears are roaming about
too, but I haven't seen them yet.

It's starting to look like spring in Franconia Notch, NH.
Yesterday, there were just a few patches of snow left,
cute little streams running down the cliffs,
and the occasional leaf bud.

the second two are in need of captions... Debbie is pretty busy right now with the end of the semester near. But once she gives me the ID's I'll post them up... now they're just pictures (except the first one).

Wow, Ed, what a beautiful collection of shots. Love the parting rattler...are those vertebrae in the Springtown Preserve set?

vertebrae of some animal... not sure what. Nothing goes wasted out there in the "waste land"
thanks for the comments! I finally figured out a way to get out with Debbie and do more than just collect a bunch of pictures. She's a "Friend of Springtown," does a lot of botany locally, and is developing a "hit list" of plants with no public access pictures on the web. So we'll get those hopefully sometime in between the climbing. But generally just go out and shoot the flora.

Awesome pix of those poppies!!!!
They're like weeds in my front yard, I can't get rid of 'em,
and they don't look nearly as nice as yours!!!!!

My allergies say yes...everything that can bloom is/has been blooming here in Bloomington for a couple weeks now. Now I know where the name comes from...It is quite spectacular with all the colors and aromas.

I thought spring was here, but then Friday we got 12-22" of fresh wet snow. I was too busy running the snowblower to take pics, besides it doesn't take much imagination to picture everything white. Record snowfall for this late in the season, heaviest snowfall of the year.
Al Gore, where's your sign?
We should see green/blooming spring in about 2 weeks, can't wait.

Thanks for all the great pix!
Already summer fire season in SoCal. 500 acres above Sierra Madre now ashen.
Saturdays suspected origin: Boy Scouts camping above Arcadia.
We really did already have spring, the southern facing slopes have turned from green to brown, and the north facing slopes at lower elevations will soon follow.

Nita, in a couple weeks the lilacs will be budded, and in a month the trees will have leaves- but the last frost is JUNE 5. Is that nuts?

Here's my weather report for 5-2-08..
5:00AM
9:30AM
Upgrade to level 3 by 10:30 (I made that up)
A full out Great Plains Blizzard is truly a beautiful thing. And this was a good one. This morning at 10:30 winds were 61mph gusting to 81mph with zero visiblility. It sounds like a train is in the back yard. The power and phones went out from 12:30 AM to 9:00AM and no cell coverage. 36oF and 14" of snow. There will be significant drifting of snow, however.

nita, it is very nice today- sunny 65oF. Now it will flood lowlying areas!. The news said this was the worst May blizzard since 1950. North of here in Harding/Perkins counties the snow is 48" deep- which is alot for for the open prairie. I won't have to water my grass 'till July.

More great photos here, and contrasts.
The view never seems to improve in Museum's backyard, but things are starting to green up in mine.
The downside -- it's pine pollen season too. My eyes itch all day.
