Poor little choppers.
He's done a lot of great things, and has a lot more ahead of him.

Before long he'll be getting around fine.
I wouldn't be surprised if he figures out a way to raise his leg to pee.

Cleo, I'm sure he's a little weired out about his new condition. Imagine waking up and having a missing limb! Of course that was the right thing to do and, in time, he'll adapt.
Here's wishing you guys the best!

I remember taking Bubba home after surgery or getting his pins adjusted. He'd be all doped up and would sigh with a wimper on the. The first time he did this I nearly got in a wreck as he had me all choked up as I was trying to pull over. Then when we'd get home and the dope wore off, he was up and playful.
Good luck Joey!

Hey all -
FYI, Joey-dog, who had his leg amputated a week ago, is really, really doing well. I was worried, but crow, it's only been a week, and things were more or less back to normal in 3-4 days (personality back, getting around up/down the stairs). Dunno if we'll do much hiking in the future, but I'm optimistic that we'll do at least a little bit. Not bad for a 14 year old mutt!

DD,
Your bottom picture might just be the funniest action shot of a dog I've ever seen. Pretty effing funny.

Cleo,
Glad to hear Joey's doing so well. I've seen many videos of three and even two-legged dogs running around playing ball, tag, etc. Hiking won't be a big deal for him, I'll bet.

Lots of dogs have three legs.
They get over it faster than we would. Good luck Cleo!
