Brick -- nice pic. Looks like the Gorge of Despair ... Cobra Turret, right? I've got to get in there one of these days.

I'm glad to see that some of the useless information from my drooling over pics has stuck in my brain. Still don't have the slightest clue what Jody's last B&W is, though.

Here's a wild guess for Jody's b/w image (from someone who knows nothing firsthand about the High Sierra): The Citadel?
Since this started as a geology inquiry, I thought I'd post these great pics I came across of remarkable exfoliation on Shuteye Ridge. (esp. for Minerals, if he hasn't already seen them.) Note the little figure for scale!

Ding!Ding!Ding!
Brick..to answer your question about Seven Gables...On August 18, 1988, the Right Wall was climbed by Dick Duane and Sebastian Letemendia. This route goes up the central portion of the huge wall(IV, 5.9). On the same day, Galen Rowell and Kevin Worral climbed the Chimney Route on the east face, also IV, 5.9.

From the old Roper guide:
Citadel, North Face. IV or V, 5.7, A3. FA by TM Herbert Dennis Hennek, and Don Lauria, 1968
Anybody have beta on Langille Peak, the Citadel's neighbor?

Yes, beautiful exfoliation – textbook. I have seen those pics in one of my books. Oh, and that’s the real Huber…
