Them Froggies was pretty good too.

French socialism keeps climbers employed checking for loose dingle-berries...

They had quite the sense of humour, n'est ce pas?

Various dovecotes from Ireland. Wondrous agrarian architecture out in the countryside, some of these are medieval even.

A stellar looking but still pesky cairn "showing they way" to the North Dome Gully?

Close, in a very ancient sort of way.

Interestingly enough, the concept of cairns in the North Dome Gully was a heated controversy in the early 60s when Art "The Move" Gran, from da Gunks, wanted to place a cairn system in this area for descent.

I haven't heard any mention of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Like some of the other stone work on this thread, I don't think we really know how they did it. Some of the explanations are pretty lame. I doubt we could build something like that today . . .

Chinese hanging temple.

I guess the real stone work is underneath the thing, but I just love the way it grows out of the cliff!

all very cool. I especially love Petra. A few questions linger though.

Do they go free? Whats the recommended rack? Where do I find the guidebook? Any seasonal closures (you know, ritual sacrifice or whatever the culture demands)?

just wondering.
