Dingus, some of her posts to norwegian were snotty. I think Ghost is correct. There is kind of a point where a thread starts to belong to the community. It is not written in stone, but I do believe that there is a point. It is a moving point, but I do believe that it exists. At some point the original poster should lose control over whether a thread exists or not. Imagine if some of the original stonemaster threads were deleted because the original poster got a whim. Sure the thread still exists, but now it can't be added to. or Bumped. That seems a mistake to me.

We can love people without trusting them to be perfect. We can trust them to be as they are mostly.
If T*R is prone to delete threads, sure we can suggest she consider an alternative course of action, but if that's how she rolls, simply don't invest if you're worried about wasting your time.
Heh, heh, wouldn't want to waste any time on Supertopo!!!
(not that we don't do good stuff here a lot of the time, we just don't get our royalty checks in real money)

It is always possible to delete the first post of a thread, which also deletes the thread title. Even going back months or years. (I checked several of "my" threads.) After about ten days, it is no longer possible to delete or edit all subsequent posts to a thread, although you could (sort of) indirectly do so by deleting pictures from e.g. PhotoBucket where they're hotlinked to ST.

It's pretty clear (to me at least) that deleting the pointer to threads and thereby silencing the entire community's ability to continue in a thread of discourse is one of her only ways of exercising control within her pretty often out-of-control life. As can be clearly seen by most anyone here the WOMAN (BTW, this is just NOT A KID and people who act like she is are being silly) has little to no self esteem and also has some very serious body image issues due to her weight. While it is incredibly rude to do what she does it is her thing. Rudeness seems to be a trait that is very prevalent within her life and is probably her primary defense mechanism. Just because her behavior is 'possible' within the programming of the board I do not think that fact makes it OK as a member of a community, which she no doubt does not really feel she is a part of in the first place.
All that aside though. Flaking on a climbing trip (ESPECIALLY when you know the people you are going with are probably going to have to choose different routes in order to accommodate your abilities and are pretty much dedicating their trip to you in that regard) is just plain f*#king rude.

I will never grant this community ownership of my words, not ever.
Your words are always your words, I would not take that away from you, but I think that a thread is a different thing. A thread becomes a living thing as long as people post to it or read it. Once it has a life of its own, then I don't think that it should be solely up to the original poster as to whether it carries on. Certainly you should be allowed to remove your posts from a thread if you so choose, the problem comes in with the life of the thread if you are the original poster. As we have it, the original poster has control over whether a thread lives or goes dormant. At the beginning, I think that is fine as sometimes mistakes are made, but I do believe that there is a point where a thread becomes community property. Not the individual posts, but the whole.

If you delete this thread you won't need to submit an application. Hell will be sending you a personal invitation.

Most of the women I stalk flip me off often as well, Sue. I mean I dont get it... shouldn't a person be flattered that I would take the time to fix a static line to the tree that leads to their third story bedroom window and practice ascending when I KNOW they are in their PJ's. Sheesh this sh#t takes planning people! Ingrates all!
