the one in Eric's Porfolio #2 called "Brody Greer and Dave Littman climbing the Streaked Wall, Zion National Park" could be used wrap around front and back cover, and would be Awesome!

# 1 is my favorite BUT I think # 2 (second choice)is a better book cover photo. You've got room for text without messing with the photo.

Of the one's here, I like 1 and 4 with 4 being better for typesetting probably. The perspective in 4 reminds me of the over of the Reid guide to Yosemite Big Walls showing Pete T. on Sunkist, El Cap, so it sort of feels like something I have seen before.

I think all the photos are good from a climber point of view, but I would rather see some blue sky and a horizon line in addition to good climbing action and sweet light. (I'd ask for the Virgin River too, but that might be asking too much) in order to convey a sense of place.

thanks for all the feedback. agreed that i need to show text on photos to really decide. also agreed that if this were a nailing book that it would be pretty tempting to include

My vote is the order in which there listed. #1 is #1, #2 is #2, etc.

Great shots, Eric!

A decent guidebook to Zion is long, long over due.

the one in Eric's Porfolio #2 called "Brody Greer and Dave Littman climbing the Streaked Wall, Zion National Park" could be used wrap around front and back cover, and would be Awesome!

Come on, Tom, admit it. You just like the canyoneering photo in that porfolio! Which is, where again?

Cheers!

While the photos are all good (especially #'s 1 and 2), they may be too 'top heavy' for a book cover in that all the action is in the upper third of the frame. If you look at the covers of most guidebooks, the action is all in the lower mid-half of the frame or a profile/arete shot with the climber centered in the frame (like Timmy on the cover of the Yos Supertopo). This positioning leaves more room for your titles, etc., as has been said before.

All the photos should be included inside, though! Nice images all the way around.

Chris - These are losing color when you're posting them because of the color space they are in. If you're in Photoshop, convert them to sRGB (which is the color space the Internet uses). To do this, select Convert to Profile from the Edit Menu. Under Destination Space select sRGB. Hit OK. Your pictures will now have the same warmth and color on the Internet as they do on your system at home. If you have any questions about this or other PS/layout type stuff shoot me an email.

As far as the pics... What a selection! Personally, #1 is my fave, followed closely by #4. Although the expression in #3 is cool! Super hard to beat the expression Cedar has goin' on tho! hahaha Still, my vote would be #1, then #4.

I like #2. The arms and legs pattern against the crack pattern is very nice.

hey there chris, say, i like #1 being that the unique look of the triangle cut shape and the hair into the rock and the colors plus, the vast "downness below" and the rock leading down to it...

the others are great pics too, but somehow seemed similar to other pics.... that first one had such a little touch of "wow, this could only be seen here-and-now by someone digging in, right here....

oh well, that comes from a non-climber, but also from chappy's sis, so hopefully i have some of the "family feel for the rocks"...hahahahaha...:)

good luck with the final dicision... :)
