Pathetic.
The "campaign cancellation to save the nation" is absurd. The LAST THING the serious economists and political leaders need in the mix at the moment, are the presidential candidates!
What is McCain's special expertise or power? He is NOT the president!
This is a re-tread of the stunt of cancelling the first day of the Repub convention to save the victims of the hurricaine. What wonderful things came out of that heroic action?
This will really hurt his campaign, as it will be seen as an attempt to duck the debate, and bringing in the specter of cancelling the VP debate starts to make him look like a coward. What a real shame to see a heroic man stoop to this.

Your'e missing the point.
McCain has no special expertise, but is an influential member of the senate with influence even with some moderate Democrats. His oppinion will shape the outcome.
Obama on the other hand is the Jr (boy to KKK Bird) senator with no influence at all.
His presence as the least of one hundred means nothing.
Maybe he'll even vote "present"

going way back to the top of the thread-
bruno: LOL
and then back to the bottom of the thread:
TGT: to be perfectly honest, when you intentionally make your overt racism so clear, and in full public view no less, i am saddened and that your offspring bears arms in my country's name.
seriously.
would it be so much to ask that you have the self awareness and common sense to at least pretend you are not an ignorant bigot?
btw-
did you ever live in OR?
just curious...

No Bob, you are.
Matt, didn't McCain challenge BO to townhall style debates for several weeks this summer and BO turned him down?
You don't really believe TGT is a bigot, do you? He's actually spot on and race has nothing to do with it from that perspective. It's just that it's not this man, IMO. Have you been reading how serious the race issue is among the Democrat Party and the Unions? That will definitely influence this election.
Cheers,
Mimi

Mimi, this summer Barack was campaigning against Hillary, not McCain. The debates then would have been silly.

Hey Moosie. No, McCain specifically challenged the B-man. Hillary was already out of the picture at the time before she made her late season run. He wanted to do one a week or so. I forget what BO's reason was for not wanting to participate but he was so far ahead at the time that he prolly figured it wasn't worth it. So it's tit for tat saying McCain is avoiding the debate. He's not. They both should have a buttload of work to do, don't you think?

Yes.
Why else is he consistently saying "Hussein"? C'mon Mimi. He's playing the "Obama is a Muslim foreign bogeyman" baiting game. When has he said McCain's middle name, whatever it is?

F*#k off Mimi-the-wanna-be.
McCain hasn't been to Washington since April...he the same as#@&%e who said the economy was fundamentally sound just last week..was no where near Washington this week and is running for his political life like a chicken without a head.
Go drink some more kool-aid.

There's very little time before the election. McCain shouldn't avoid the debate because we have little time left to see these guys relatively unscripted.
This set of debates is essential and different because it's set up by the non-partisan debate commission, not one guy challenging another to debate according to his own rules

Bob, get over yourself.
dirtbag, you really believe that many people judge the guy strictly because of his name? I think it's pretty funny that people get upset about the play on the guy's middle name considering the level of rhetorical shredding of the current admin over the last several years.

Nope, he wasn't that far ahead. As for butt loads of work to do, McCain has already admitted he knows next to nothing about the economy. That doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in what he is doing during this trouble. Considering that he has had 26 years to help make this problem, I am not confident of his ability to fix it.

Having shared a campfire with TGT, he is quite a nice guy to hang out with. He has been smoking the republican right winger lettuce for too long.
Anyone who actually supports these (Republican) clowns needs to go climbing and it will be chrystal clear. Vote for the party with a plan. You will be so glad you did because next spring, the gardens around the world will bloom with the manifestation of Hope and Prosperity.
There will once again be a seperation of church and state. The economy will soar. There will once again be smart deplomacy by a smart president who finished at the top of his class, not the bottom. TGT you can be saved.

Mimi, I think it shows his bigotry. (And again I ask, why not state McCain's middle name?)
And yes, I do think people are partly afraid of his name. It feeds into their perception that he is a foreign, muslim, black man. A lot of people will not vote for him because they believe he is a muslim, and of course others won't vote for him because he's black. I hear this stuff all the time.

dirtbag, there's no doubt in my mind that a black man will be a future president here. I just don't think it's going to be this person. I know what you mean about prejudice. I look at the name issue with humor but I guess it does add fuel to a bad fire.
