Well of course, I believe Teddy winked at her. He had been walking along, and he slowed down, made eye contact with her and his tail did it's happy wag(Teddy only has a short stump, and it goes back and forth like Samantha on Bewitched's nose.

Then she stopped, guffawed, and said he'd winked at her. I wasn't surprised in the least. Teddy is a high-level interacter, and more than once people have sidd they felt he was communicating with them.

Hoh-Mahn fake Blinny, I know what you're saying. I lost my best friend in this world, Alobar, back in '92 (7/14) my immediate situation is not dog conducive, but that will change soon. I Know(!) Al would want me to move on.

Cheers, Cleo!

and cheers to all you dog-people!

reno - i'm in LOVE with your pictures... those are GREAT!

as for me, yea, I need some cheers. the old dawg went to the vet this morning, and things were not good - skin sluffing off. So, we're getting an amputation, and I'll have an old tripod dog tonight. I think the vet knew it was going to happen today, but had given me a few days "to think about it", but had cleared his schedule knowing I'd give in. Ugh.

Here's the old pooch a few years ago, out in Vermont...

Hey Euroford,

Check out the 2 goldens in the background of your dog park picture. I think that dude is getting a hummer!

Anyone know Riotch? We need a picture of his dog 1 eyed Jack. That was a great dog from Sushifest IC. And Dr's Rosco, and Riotch's other dog, and Natures dog. What's up with those slacking f*#kers!

Good luck, Cleo.

I know some three-legged dogs, and they get around great.

Cleo - GOOD LUCK!

Know that your dog will probably be out of it at first, just from the anesthesia. And maybe a little weak and wobbly as the wound heals(watch out for signs of infection at this vulnerable stage as well - very important).

Tour dog will most likely be FINE with that leg gone and will surprise you how well they do. One thing - a 3 legged dog has a faster gait than when they were 4 on the floor. They hop more than walk, so -get ready for some exercise!

Holy sh!t, I went back and looked and Prod is right. That one retriver is standing up getting a hummer from the other. What kind of dog park is that?

Hey Cleo,

Good luck with the pooch. Bubba broke his kicker at 6 months, but got to keep it for a pretty penny from me.

It works like a champ now.

My take is that it will bug you worse than the dog. I'm sure that was the case with Bubba. By the way most of the time he looked happy, the above picture is the most pathetic one I could find of him when his leg was pinned.

Cheers,

Yeah, Neville broke his femur at the growth plate a little over a month ago, and has been on three legs since then. He gets around just fine, even up and down stairs. Best of luck to you!

Thanks guys, for all the support (and cute-patooty doggie pics). I think, after picking my dog up minus one limb this afternoon, I'll need a drink (as opposed to sitting around my house moping watching my groogy dog sleep and feeling sorry for myself).

Found a couple more from a summer island camping trip. Too bad I didn't get any picture of the black bear. The last morning of the trip Indy awoke us with his barking. The growling and thrashing of bushes on a not very distant ridge were the source of his barking, which I finally figured out was a big black bear feasting on huckleberries and not paticularly fond of invaders on his islands disturbing his feeding.

Hey all... thanks for the support, and I'm glad to hear Bubba and Neville are gettin' around! I brought Joey home yesterday, although the vet offered to keep him another night. Things are a little rough - he can't really move himself around and is super wobbly. He also *hates* being wo-manhandled, so we have little arguments every time he needs to go pee (even when I'm only touching his back feet!) But he's alert and engaged, and playing me for all its worth, refusing to eat anything except bologna and pancakes. More over here (if you're interested)...
