The flag, eh?
My guess is the the Confederate flag flying on the SC capitol grounds will remain through year's end.

The Conservative party was the largest political organization to ever exist that was based on the premise that one human being could own another.
They've never apologized for it.

My family is from my Arkansas.
They owned slaves. When I was a kid I used to play with the conch shell they used to call slaves in from the fields.
Probably fought on the losing side of the war, too. They were traitors.
After the war, my great grandfather joined the KKK when lynchings were rampant.
I'm a northerner now.
I see the flag for what it is and always has been: a symbol of white supremacy, created as a symbol of white power, resurrected during the civil rights era as a symbol of white power.
Too bad that quite a few good folks have bought the kool aid, and a whitewashed version of its history, and view it as a symbol of a nobler era. All that sh#t is a bunch of lies.
So, that flag is a part of my heritage . But my heritage includes a bunch of mother f*#kers who I would never dream of honoring by displaying a confederate flag.

Rewriting history is just another way to shift the blame from themselves.
Lincoln was a Progressive Liberal, as well as the Republican party at that time.
The Dems were the Conservative Party.
and then the Parties reversed.
Teddy Roosevelt was the last of the Liberal Republicans,
but we can also include Eisenhower, who was way more liberal than some Dems today

An irrelevant technicality. It is the de facto flag of the Confederacy
Most of the confederate soldiers not only were not slave owners, but weren't too fond of the aristocrats that were. And most of the northern soldiers were racists who freely used the N word.
It was the flag of Bobby Lee's army, and remember that he first turned down command of the Union. His soldiers did not rally to it because it was a pro-slavery.

My family fought for the confederecy. Lots of history in the big battles, we still have conferarate money and tons of other stuff. Bull Run, 1st regiment of Alabama's whatever's blah blah blah. They were straight up Irish conscripts off the boat that got told what to do. I'm guessing there wasn't a whole lot of ideology going on. My modern family hates raciscim, my dad wrote an anti segregation paper while at the U of Alabama in the early 60s.
Modern displays of the confederate flag outside of museums is just d#@&%enozzle racism. People that don't realize that are just too stupid to care.

Yesterday, I posted props to Nikki Haley (for calling for the removal of the flag removal from the Capitol grounds). Yet, I'm accused of being a "fan of the flag. Hmm.
My take is it's not as cut and dried as y'all like to make it seem. Lot of folks long on opinion, short on perspective.
I see, same ole schtick from you, too.
How about offering up those not cut and dried reasons to keep the rebel flag flying. Put your money where your mouth is? I mean, since you feel the need to represent and all that.
I support Nikki Haley's call for the removal of the flag from the Capitol grounds and you conclude I want it to remain up?
