When I was in the Boy Scouts (and a Senior Patrol leader) we did some silly, stupid and even dangerous things. And the adult leaders brought is into line Real Quick! This was part of growing up and learning to be responsible for the results of our decisions and actions.

We sure as heck didn't deliberately destroy ancient trees or rocks. We knew better than that from day 1.
And that was in Utarrrhh.

Okay, I'm sensing judgment here...

...when the marquee down the street at my neighborhood elementary school plainly reads, "Don't Judge."

Which is it? hmm...

"And who would have thought that 41 years later this song would be rediscovered by a bunch of BrBa fans. Cool."

A thought-provoking show - work of art - layer after layer - that I'm glad is behind me now. (Whatever that means, lol!)

Why bag on a group with traditional values? And if those who want to join do not share those values,, why in the hell would they want to join anyhow?

Why?

Because this sort of thing does have an important point: That if someone goes around doing things, and they belong to a group that espouses conservation values, they will damage that organization.

After all, how did anyone know these guys were scout leaders? They obviously were boasting of that.

It' like the Sierra Club guys I've seen come into a permit office, to find that permits for their favorite place were used up. "no, no, you don't understand", then pulled out their SC cards to get special treatment.

Same thing here.

Do the SC people get special treatment? Because you can bet your magic jammies that "members" get very special treatment in UT. If this hadn't been put on the intardweb for outsiders to see and they had still been caught, chances are they'd a got off pretty darn light.

Hey Rush . . . these are your people, why don't you do something about them.

What a prime example of what is wrong with this country.

Oh, and Rong----pedophiles almost never live a homosexual lifestyle or have attraction to adult men. The sex of the victim has more to do with access than with the sex of the perp.

You should know that, as a former LEO.

This is the reason that the broad sweeps that the Boy Scouts and the Catholic Church have had to remove gays has had no impact on child attacks....they have targeted the wrong people.

You couldn't make this sh#t up.

A Boy Scout leader who came under fire for pushing over an ancient boulder in a national park filed a suit last month claiming he was suffering permanent "disability" and "impairment" from an auto accident four years ago.

Glenn Taylor initially faced scrutiny after a video of him pushing over a Jurassic era rock formation in the Goblin Valley State Park in Utah went viral.

Taylor, a Boy Scout leader, told ABC News that he should have handled the incident differently but thought the boulder was dangerous and thought it would be safer to push it over.

"The Boy Scouts didn't teach me to do this," Taylor told ABC News. "Would I do it again? Yes, with a ranger standing there. That's what we should have done."

Charges Possible For Toppled Ancient Utah Rock

However Taylor is now facing additional scrutiny after it was revealed that he filed a suit claiming he has he endured "great pain and suffering, disability, impairment, loss of life" stemming from a 2009 car accident, according to ABC News affiliate KTVX-TV in Salt Lake City, Utah.

According to KTVX, Taylor said in the documents he has incurred an estimated $5,000 in medical related expenses.

Alan Macdonald, who is being sued by Taylor because it was his daughter who hit Taylor's car, told KTVX that he was "highly offended" by Taylor's actions.

"Somebody with a bad back who is disabled who can't enjoy life to me doesn't step up and push a rock right off its base," Macdonald said.

Calls to a number listed in Taylor's name and to his attorney were not immediately returned.

The Emery County Attorney's Office confirmed that it has been contacted by state park representatives and will review the case once an investigation is complete.

No, but it's not at all surprising, either. Stupid tends to be present in all parts of the life of morons.

...and yes they do teach kids good values...

Unfortunately, this is exactly what is wrong with the BSA.

I don't want their "values" in my world.

My assessment of the BSA is correct. Narrow-mind, ignorant and intolerant people.

I will agree with you that maybe those rock-tipping morons do not represent the BSA.

Both men have been stripped of their Scouting duties. Hopefully the State and other authorities follow up with more appropriate punishment.

SLR those guys in no way represent the boy scouts.

If I read the article correctly, they are scout leaders. Doesn't that indicate that they represent the scouts?

Scout leaders are volunteers, who usually have kids in the program.
