Reilly you are close but about 1000 miles to the west and the rock on the first photo is pretty good, certainly not choss and the spires have been climbed by a french team and it is a long approach no matter how you look at it. Approach varies between 17-24 days.

Toss the choss and grab a vahine.

Iles Marquises.

Is that the place where some climbers found strange bugs? Something thought to be extinct?

There was a thread here about that a year or two ago...

Mine is a question, I visited Smith Rocks in 1978 and me and a buddy were bouldering around on this face. I'm sure that someone knows where/what this is (I don't). Sorry for the old crappy slide this was scanned from.

I think you're thinking of Balls Pyramid. I could be wrong though.

WidePlates, it looks like the base of Parking Lot, or "Picnic Lunch" wall, but kinda hard to tell from the photo.

Not in the lower 48.

And the flora rhumes with ... ...not much, maybe if Rocky mis-pronounced thunder.

OK, here's a view that the locals might be more likely to recognize:

The first photo was taken on one of the ridges off to the left.

I was gonna guess Wamello? Too lazy to get up and grab my 1973 Ascent. Plus that'd be cheating.
