You got it Bigsby B12 with a Gibson Humbucker pick up. Talking about 7 decades here.
Modified for Bob Bain, sad to say it was stolen.
Article on Bob and the guitar is in the current Vintage Guitar May 2012.

Go-b: Nice Danny Gatton vids! I'm pretty sure that the volume knob on Steve Vai's main Jem, once belonged to Danny Gatton...
You might dig this footage of Johnny Hiland in the studio:

Cut to about 3:00 for that southern chicken pickin...
Here's another favorite from Shawn Lane. Some of his stuff is a little out-there, but the dude could rip!

And of course, love him or hate him, Yngwie:

Yes. Had been modified around 1957-58 with a Gibson humbucker pick-up in the neck position. The fingerboard was slightly shimmed because of the humbbucker’s height, then the Bigsby tailpiece added. The idea behind it was having one guitar sound like a second sound so as not to carry two guitars to create the same effect.
Edit: Nice recording of Hendrix. Clean tones and the man could speak through his telecaster and others. Used for distortion: Fuzz face, Vox wah, octavias and UniVibes.
Gibson made a Fuzz tone in ‘62 but you need to realize a whole new generation started in the late 60’s. Just like in climbing.

Stevep - that Al Di Meola vid is rad! Love the sort of Eastern vibe that a lot of these guitarists do...
This thread has gotten me back on youtube watching guitar videos again... I used to do this for hours when I didn't have a job...
Another fantastic vid of Shawn Lane - fool could play faster than anyone else, but also play extremely melodic lines. This one's sort of haunting:

I was fortunate to have a college roomate that was from a musical family and while he grew up playing violin, he'd switched to electric guitar. So I was introduced to quite a few players that were less than mainstream and went to see a few shows. The most memorable show was when Steve Morse opened for Stu Hamm (Satriani's bassist) at Stanford in the early 90's. Morse was amazing, no just his incredible virtuosic speed but his improvisational ability as well as being able to just jam.
While Satriani can certainly shred, I like the mellow tunes to.

While typically not thought of as an instrumental player, Carlos just can't be beat for the vibe he get's out a guitar.
