To cut to the chase ( that's an east coast phrase, isn't it?) Yes Dr F! She Has done a complete about face! she seems to think, now, that people are even more important than Money, how much farther anti-republican can you get, than that?

I'm not supposed to talk about this, but, since life is short, I will go ahead and announce it, she will soon be leading the Jello Biafra for president as a third party candidate, campaign any minute.

Apparently this song, (the Stars and stripes, of Corruption, by the Dead Kennedys) that I turned her on to, on our family holiday in Cambodia, was the turning point!

DR F cuts thru the bullshit in almost every one of his postings.....so do norton and rokjox....we need more REAL humans like these in government....the pugs and blue dogs have created their own death panel and are killing american citizens by keeping health care unafffordable....the pugs scare all the dimwits by saying that affordable health care will kill them.....there needs to be a revolution , where any corrupt politician , dems. or repubs , are incarcerated or better yet , tar ( not you roy) and feathered....our current justice system protects the guy with the most bucks....not the guy who is in the right....

With all due respect, Lois, since when does a thread with you participating in it stay completely On Topic, oh, queen of the bunnies and wolves?

I'd like to hear an answer to that question: name one positive outcome of a Repug in the last 10 years. Or 20. Or 30.

I've been posing a similar question for days now, and every time...not a single response.

So....answer the question, hmmmm?

"Here the stakes are much too high for frivolity and we really need to stay focused on the task at hand."

Ummm, Lois...the bill already passed the House & Senate, and is currently in committee, working out the differences. Latest word is that the part about placing a tax on the 'Cadillac' policies is going to be dropped, at Obama's behest. Paying for this POS bill was already shaky...now it's even more shaky. It seems that Obama is bending to the will of the political piper.

Hell, there's a good chance the whole frickin' thing is gonna go down (which would only be partly tragic).

"I certainly hope the public option does not go down for the count."

Lois, you must be feverish, because the PO was lost before the bill ever reached the Senate. The bill that passed was completely devoid of any kind of PO, and the best that most can say for it is that it is supposed to do away with the insurance company's abilities to turn down coverage to anyone (esp. women) for a pre-existing condition. Aside from that, the bill is a wonderful, expensive gift to the insurance industry: there is an 'individual mandate' within the bill that requires all to purchase insurance, or be penalized. There are cuts to Medicare in the bill that are supposed to help offset the costs, which doesn't make seniors happy, and oddly enough, the Repugs tried to block, apparently solely for the purpose of being obstructionists (they HATE medicare, and wish it would go away). And the cream on the rotten peaches is that most of the aspects of the bill won't take effect until between 2013-14...

The bill is a POS that is truly the best example of congressional 'sausage making' at it's worst. It's nothing close to the kind of reform that you are now advocating- but don't let that stop you- Go, girl!

The Dems are just being Dems: distracted and diverse priorities in the party, as opposed to the Repugs who are a bunch of ideologic droids. There was so much distracted direction in the process, esp. due to the 'Blue Dog' Dems, and the message was so ill-defined, that the teabagging fear-a-thon supported by the Repugs controlled more of the public opinion. Gradually, and one by one, each of the truly progressive elements of true reform (including a true, single payer Public Option) were lost, and in the end, the special interests (esp. the insurance industry) won out handily. Hell, I'm sure they had complete control of the issue from the start.

The Repugs mostly disgust me like something smelly stuck to my shoe, but I have to give them credit for creating an agend and then enacting it. If the Dems had half of this level of 'git 'er dun' about them, they'd be the truly Progressive Party that would make me proud, and this country would be very different than it has been for the last 50 years of Repug-dominated reign.

Now Lois, Sweetheart - keeper of my (brain's) heart - don't let old Ap's negative mood bring you down even lower than the flu. Much to my surprise, some form of public option may still make it into the final bill. And my man Barack did right to rid the bill of that "cadillac tax". Let's wait until you're over your flu symptoms. I think there may be surprises in store to come.

Well, Lois, I understand about being too old for that stuff, but all these extended interviews mean is that you're among the top couple of picks for both jobs. You're most likely going to get offers from both.

As far as this bill goes, personally I win if it goes through in any form. I'm one of the millions who can't even buy insurance due to the prior condition bs. So, though I want a Pulic Option, I want this bill to pass in any case.

Sleep well, and be well.

And Apogee, my comments were tongue-in-cheeek. I know you're solid.

The one positive aspect of this bill, the 'no-exclusions' provision, makes me suspicious. While it may well make denials a thing of the past, there is nothing in the bill (to my knowledge) that limits what the insurance industry can charge for the policy. So, while it sounds good politically, if the policy premium is so sky-high that it is practically unaffordable, in effect it's the same as being excluded.

The insurance industry is crafty and creative, and is sure to find work-arounds to this sole shining light in the bill. In the final stages of the Senate process, the insurance industry was remarkably quiet...this can only mean that whatever is in that Congressional sausage suits them just fine. Bastards.

That's why there has been such a push to include a public option that at the very least kicks in if affordability thresholds are not met. In reality the cost problem will solve itself if we simply ensure coverage for everyone because we will no longer be able to pretend that we can do nothing about it. We only react to crises.

Evidently money talks and it speaks loud and clearly right across party lines. What's good for the people seems to rank right on up there on par with my cat's litter box.

So very disappointing. Business just buys out both parties and makes it impossible to get elected without being bought and sold into the big money system.

Fake reform is bad for the people. With a broken system, we keep losing out on our last chance to stem the rot that is only making the richest rich while gutting the strength of the heart of the country.
