Since anyone can post as many times as they want, there is the ability for a person or group to steer the entire Forum to reading what they want by bumping their topics to the top. If a person or group chooses to do that, the Forum is no longer as free and open a place because they are taking disproportionate control of what the rest of the Forum sees listed on the top. We hope people will not abuse this power and for the most part people don't.
We depend on people to self-monitor. And when things get out of hand, which they sometimes do, we depend on Forum members to point this out.
It's not just about hateful posts/images(which I do agree are very cruel and those who do such manipulations are way out of line), but also thread bumping because a person wants to keep their (non-climbing, and usually pretty low-quality) topic in the spotlight.

All I remember of fat boy was from my past thread on supertopo...he posted a fair bit on that historical thread. But his posts always creeped me out a bit, like that was the first time I was posting on supertopo, and I was already getting the creepy vibe about someone I didn't know anything about or how he behaved in other threads.

Rokjox - Sort of. It is an ominous sign though. Maybe its the beginning of the end like they say 2012 is supposed to be.
Have to ask ourselves that when Fattrad is nuked from ST how far off are the world ending earthquakes and tsunamis?

I don't really get why certain people get all riled up about LEB. She's never said anything offensive, and posts exclusively in OT threads (the same place the riled up people post - kettle, meet pot). LEB is alright with me..
Anyway... there WAS abundant obnoxious and hateful posting. I'm glad to see it go.
Fattrad, I like you in person, but I think the quality of your posts have decreased in the past few years. When they let you back, I'd be happy to see Fattrad circa 2008 (Jody's evil twin) again :).

We're now at 600 posts discussing something in the wrong place. Instead of gloating or harping or ranting here, may I suggest you listen to Chris Mac's video linked immediately below, and offer constructive comments in the appropriate place? He talks about goals of the forum and how he moderates it:

Chris is trying to do a good job running this McForum, and he explains how and why in the video above. Post some useful comments and suggestions in the other thread, because he will be reading it.
600 posts here, and only 50 on the other thread? That is annoying and lame. This thread has jumped the shark - do us all a favour and let it die.
P.S. I can knott figure out how the hell to embed Chris' video here in my post. If someone can email me instructions I would appreciate it. I copied and pasted the alleged "embed" url from Youtube, but it doesn't work.

If you want this thread to die, you shouldn't have posted to it. And you shouldn't have posted a video (or tried to) that was posted here several pages ago.
While you see hate on this thread (there is some) several of us have used it to thank Chris - and we did so before he put up the newer thread. It was also used to discuss/inform about five folks that got banned - not just fatty. Suppose we could have started five threads?
