Only a glass of wine in, but I think I'll wade a little deeper, before the night is over. A bottle of California Pietra Santa "Sassolino" & a surprisingly smooth Argentinean Malbec, are open.
It's December Stroganoff nite at the Ranchette, and I have to sauté the ingredients, while continuously checking the quality of the red wine I add to the dish.
Confusion to the stooped ST politard threads, and the Poli-Tards that post on them, like they actually think their thoughts matter to anyone else.
Weekend thoughts? It’s winter. I don’t have to go climbing in the winter. We did make it to one of the local hot springs yesterday, after it warmed up into the 30s f.

Your current consumption:
If this means consumption to date, incalculable.
If it means tonight’s consumption, a good deal of chamblais, cabernet/merlot and merlot which I am trying to drink up to save Cindy’s bridge group (thoroughly audible all over the neighborhood) from developing liver problems. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
At least one inflammatory comment:
“It’s not getting to the summit, it’s how you do it that counts” means that no ascent prior to Honnold’s counts at all, at all. Sigh. Sorry about that.
Why you are drunk and typing on McTopo instead of doing something worthwhile, like driving to the crag?
Can I get back to you when I’m feeling more compos mentis?

Reilly? You ask about my high-school classmate Imstein---aka Stein?
Attended our City of Rocks party for many years, and still is ticking.
He was widely mistaken in the last 20 years, for Bill Clinton or Hemingway, depending on his shaving habits.

Greetings.
Just returned from a wonderful simple dinner with family. Brie and pears. Beef stew. Red wine. Good cognac.
Now for some herb tea and a mystery novel on my ipad. Much to be grateful for.

Great to see Fossil Climber chiming in. We need more Waynes around here.
I'm doing Retail for the Holidays, just to keep busy and have some income. Quite different than what I'm used to. I need a few beers and these Dortmunder 16oz. cans are a deal. Not bad.
As for a bad remark I will only say that you hop-headed IPA guys suck. You are limiting my choices at the beer store just to have shelf space. Lagers rule.

A little Campus Oaks Zin & a wonderful Alexander Valley Vinyards Cab with dinner.
It was a wet but warm week on the ranchette with lots of rain & lots of wet snow in the mountains. Our snowpack melted by Monday, but tried to come back this morning. Melted again & it was a nice afternoon in the low 40's f.
Shorts & bluebird weather in Idaho.
Snow on Heidi's Solstice Lingam this morning.

Roger that, Wayno. Bought my first sixer of Theakston XB ale in yonks.
Really good, that. English ales, lagers, pilsners, porters, and Belgians
are all I drink, besides wines.
Just booked Xmas eve dinner for me mum at Maison Akira in Pasadena.
Chef Akira studied under Joel Robuchon and worked at Maxime's.
Really looking forward to it.

Drinking some water.
Lucky sods who are unemployed.
I'm sitting at my desk while a crew of elves is making gifts here at the gift workshop. It's been 6 weeks of nothing but work. If I am awake, I am at work. Fortunately it will all be over in another 2 weeks. Then I will have the time and money to get out and ski and climb things, if my health will allow.

Spider! I feel for you. I used to hate Christmas when I was in retail. It was great to be busy & making money, but the stress of runnning an outdoor store, managing employees, working with customers, & trying to keep the store organized & stocked, & the books current, was horrible.
I reached the point where a customer sincerely wished me a Merry Christmas, & all I could do was mutter, Thanks, Have a Nice Day.
I still feel sorry for employees at Christmas time.
Scluuuuurrrrp.
Happy Solstice!

Bah Humbug. Not even drunk on cheap beer and self pity. The High Life is only 50 cents a bottle.
I shouldn't complain. I got mine. Five days with my son. A short five. We saw Star Wars. We went sledding in the rain. I read to him. He learned to whittle and sand. We made a multiplication table. We hunted each other with foam dart guns. We ninja wrestled. He's a shining star. I'm very proud of him and when I tell him so, he beams a little. It should be enough.
