Do you all have recommendations for beam type pannier racks for fully suspended mountain bikes? The one that I see most is the Topeak MTX BeamRack Rear Bike Rack. I already have the bike, so I don't have the better option of using a real (wedge?) rack that mounts to the seat stays.
I know this style has a limited weight capacity.
Thanks,
Darwin

Darwin:
You should invest in soft packs...burrito bag for the seat.
If you plan on doing any real off trail riding...panniers aren't going to be your friend in the end

Here's a photo of my Ritchey Ti BreakAway travel bike. The frame splits into two pieces to fit into a suitcased-sized case for easy travel. The first version of this bike was made out of steel. I pestered Tom to make a Ti version and one night I got a phone call, "hey, I am headed over to Taiwan tomorrow to spec out a Ti version of the bike. You are a 56[cm;, I'm a 58[cm]. I will bring back one of each for us." Tom got serial #1 and I got serial #2.

The aftermarket cans make this bike a bit of a ranger magnet on the trails, but it goes faster so it's all good.

Thanks Mike and BigB. I still have a slightly smaller behind the seat setup from Alaska days, but I hadn't seen the under the top-tube bags. So no multi-day bike camping trips on a full suspension? I was thinking of: out, camp then unladen day trips. Or, heck just using it as a commute bike to schlep all my city-crap around.
And it comes down to me just being retro grouch that likes racks.

Hensel said it.... don't encourage him.
Was cruising the back alleys of SLC the other day, like I do, looking for pussy in need of fixing (4000 so far, Wilt Chamberlain - totally incompetent dude) when I saw something glinting in the gutter. A small unopened bottle of 170 proof vodka. Five minutes later I toss the bottle back, empty, smashing it on the sidewalk for good measure, and five minutes after that I'm feeling pretty invincible, like I did when I was 25 and told a climber twice as big as me he should get a red ball, stick it on his nose and apply for a job in the circus. So I thinks to myself, will this old Kaw do 170 mph? After wringing its neck down the freeway for a while I realized I needed to gas up, and as I was pumping I saw the cop pull in behind. I figured 167mph (POS old Saki never did make it) was going to be a big ticket, more than I paid for the bike. Well, the cop leaned over to get a look at the odometer so I grabbed him by the short hair on the temples and as he squealed like a pig I smashed his head into the gas tank (see photo) and booked it WOT for the horizon. Made a lovely bass note (tank and head both being hollow) but left quite the dent.
I hope forehead imprints aren't like gun barrels or the sh!t might still hit the fan.
