i'm not completely toast on this one yet, all it would take is a declined bit ona house on one friend's part or maybe a rasberry blight, or a sudden breathrough in frenchfry technolgy to put this one back on the fron burner.

-or a positive lottery experience...

The Lorax(.10) on the Queen...

For those wondering where the camp is located...I'm pulling together a map(or two) to help with locating the spot.

Lemme know what you folks are thinking...cause I'm having trouble concentrating on other subjects...

Mojede sent me this cool out-of-print(1989) post card:

Looks(to me) like a bit west of Tony's Canyon...

~6.5 miles from the Interstate

Here is the link to look at the location in Google Earth or Google maps:
http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/1177810/an/0/page/0#1177810

Note that the camp site shows up west of the Delmoe Lake road, when looking at the road layer in google maps, which is false....but if you look at the satellite imagery, you'll notice that the road layer is inaccurate, and that the camp is actually east of the road

The camp site is located on the east side of the road...there will also be a sign of some sort.

A shot of the next batch of rock to viewers left on post card.
Dragon's Back (trad roped-climbing) is the large rock hump dominating the left of the photo.

Left of Dragon's Back: Upper Wheat Thins area.
Interstate is at road cut.

Well right on Kartch!

Good to hear another confirmation...not too many of those yet. Maybe bumping it a few more times will help...hehehe

JoFo cruisin' on a wet Cruise Control also at the Queen.

MC sending Out of Order at the Queen.

MC trying a chest jam on Super Squeeze at the Queen

Myself on Wave Runner at Whiskey Gulch last year.

JW on Caught in the Act at Whiskey last year.

For those mulling over gas prices and trip expenses, I want to throw this out there.

There is ALOT of copper wire in the pass area. It's from the old powerlines that were hacked down/replaced, but the lines were just left sitting. Last year I saw a guy pulling out 40+ pounds in a short afternoon. At(edited for better accuracy) ~2.50 a pound stripped or $.80 a pound with insulation, you could probably pay for your gas with an easy day of hiking and collecting...I know some places that are RIPE too.

Something to think about I guess, I'd be willing to lend a hand too...maybe I should post this in the recession skills thread...

'nother Humbugs formation from the AWhit files...

I think, Tom, that the lines along the tracks were for telegraph usage, but copper nonetheless. Maybe I can do a MTN bike recon of "our" areas and re-affirm our assessments.

Gonna go check out the biggest blob of monzonite pictured 1/2 mile East of camp on Saturday--hope it has SOME climbing on it, making it a "no-driving required" crag for the bashers.

Thanks BR, wish you could make it out here...

Hopefully I can join you tomorrow Hutch...maybe tonight if I can find the motivation.

This one would be considered 'drive to then hike in' crag...

I'm sorry I will not. I feel bad that I lived there for a while and climbed there a ton but I can't do it.
