No, two separate ethics offices.
The one the link references is the overall Office of Government Ethics
The other one which yes the Republican controlled House of Representatives
voted last Monday to close down is their own House Ethics office.
When the media put out that story the angry phone calls flooded the
Republicans and so the very next day they voted again to table their prior vote.
If only they could have done it in secret all those pesky future Ethics investigations
could have been stopped, pity.

This appears to be a very jaded opinion of those of us who live in Middle America.
John, perhaps so. I can envision a situation where one "goes along to get along". I imagine that was what happened in a lot of communities where blacks "were kept in their place" through means that were and are abhorrent.
But I don't give a pass to those who go along passively. To get along, keep silent as the noose is passed over the head, the church is bombed, the wages not paid.
I don't imply that this is everyone in middle America, it is not. However, only a person gets to choose who their name is associated with, and who they allow to point to them.
If one is not VERY very careful, before long one is contriving why the end justifies the means....any means.
