The weather is crap this week, but I'm hoping at least to take some re-con camp photos for y'alls perusal.

Don't know those folks...looks like they were having some fun though...

Saw it, but can't help. I hope they get reunited.

BTW: What the h3ll was that mattress-thing about in the first pic? It didn't look like a crash pad, and the Humbugs aren't particularly good for bouldering anyway, too grainy and loose--better for trad-craggin'.

beats me Moj...Looks like it would be a pain in the ass to hike it up in there too...hopefully I don't have to run into it out there this season...

This is about the best camp location to date. It is 6.5 miles from the Interstate, and 13.5 miles from Butte. It is centrally located to nearly all of the Batholith climbing spots (bouldering, cragging, etc...). There is some water trickling through a close meadow, has ample firewood (two established rings), and is 2wd accessible. It is 100 yards off the main Delmoe Road (gravel/dirt) and is secluded enough to be quiet.

Hope this fits the bill for all involved, and there is a decent turnaround for trailers, as well.

edit: The "road" seen running through camp is an ATV/4wd road that doesn't see too much traffic (there are way better places to ride) and is the only small pitfall. I doubt that it will present much of a problem if we put up a few "Supertopo Reunion" signs on the road entrance, maybe a well placed car (or 2) as well.

Gray, David Vaughan, and partner Julie were at Roof Rock on Saturday the 17th. With two other parties (including us) up there, we guessed that people were staying closer to home because of gas prices.

Mighty, if you get recharged, think you could swing by here and give me a lift? I realize it's not on your route, if you take the absolute shortest way...

It's not looking good, here...

Bummer, Jaybro--I have been getting sore legs running around the hills trying to find an OW that you can't get first try. If I find one that might fit the bill, I'll save it for next year, eh?

Sorry to hear that roslyn...

You too Jaybro...so the sun is turning black after all, eh?

What's that mean for the CA interest?? How about the rest of y'all?

Now that it's getting close to the event, it's getting mighty quite on this thread...

Here are a couple from the weekend...

OK - I add something.
In the picture of the lake - just out of view to the right my friend use to unicycle down the trail from the Lady of the Rockies - about 5 miles from the Lady and say 3000 feet down. Of course, he biked up to the ridge top before he started down.

Tom - if people bring their mountain bikes - I will get them on some trails.

That would be quite the downhill...even with two wheels. Wouldn't mind checking out some trails...I'll prolly get distracted by the rocks though.

One more bump before I leave the work...

Y'all can break the news to me if you can't make it, I can handle it. I rather hear that you're coming though, and that I'm gonna need to buy more beer!

Finally, my constant lurking pays off!

I might be able to get someone from Billings to come up with me, but if not, will someone who doesn't have a prayer at sending anything over .10+ sport (trad's a whole 'nother ball game: well...the #1's too small, the 3's too big, and I just dropped my #2...)or v3 have some folks to bum around with? Keep in mind I never venture into the wild without a good supply of tasty adult beverages!

Sounds like a blast though. I patch potholes M-F, so I relish any opportunity to get away from asphalt on the weekends, and meet more local climbers. I could probably actually do both weekends now that I think about it...

Tready, Tom speaks great wisdom. There is so much stone to explore, that you just have to decide what type of fun YOU want to have, and we'll make sure you find it.

The party supplies arrived under cover a few night ago.

edit: BTW, Tom's shot is on the East side of the Continental Divide, mine is 20 miles West on the other side, in Butte.
