When I look at the pics, especially near Matthes Crest, I see such a small area of the photo frame that filled my world for 3 days last month. And how wonderful and beautiful were those 3 days :)
And then I think about how many such areas there still are to explore. What a wonderful world! And what a wonderful vision and execution by folks like John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt that made preservation of special places a formal national priority.
Thanks for sharing Bryce :)

"It's also fun to drive 120mph down 395 high on coke while sipping a beer and getting a blow job.
That doesn't mean you should do it."
Maybe, but it also doesn't mean that I shouldn't do it.

Wow, I needed that! Thanks. Awesome perspective. It makes me want to be there and just hang out for ever and climb and ski.
Maybe one day I will have a similiar perspective.
I would love to paraglide someday over the Sierras from West to East right over Yosemite National Park. As long as you launch outside the park and fly/thermal over, and don't land within the park (except for a real emergency landing) it is all legit. It is possible given the right day. I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet (as far as I know).
I'm sure fullsize sailplanes/gliders have done it, since many of their flights are interstate in scope. I can't be sure about our fellow hang glider brothers. I'm not sure if they have done it yet. But as far as paragliders go, it hasn't been done.
Going from East to West is probably possible also. There are some awesome launches just above Lee Vining over looking Mono Lake.
