If the exhibit travels, the American Mountaineering Museum
in Golden would be a great place for it to show!

Ken,

Thanks for all the time and effort you've put into this and keeping Yosemite's climbing heritage alive.

I hope to see it.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Hey Dave it would be good to see you again if you make it up. Weren't you with Bill on the Iron Curtain attempt back in '77? I remember broken bit nightmares and felt sorry for you guys. We were next door on Zodiac.

Lynne, no posters but I will send you an invitation card.

Ken,

Yes indeed. I had to split for a few weeks to work and the Iron Curtain became Born Under a Bad Sign.

Cheers!

Edit: BTW, loved how you put FREE WINE to capture attention.

I was away for a week, and see you guys got up to all sorts of fun while I was away. Sadly, I can't make it on the 6th - sounds like it would be a great event.

As the exhibit will be through the end of October, hopefully I can see it during the FaceLift. Maybe we could have some sort of FaceLift/exhibit synergy, e.g. getting the kids to help in the morning, then have a tour in the afternoon? Maybe with Yosemite legends, if available?

A beer and cheese party for FaceLifters at the museum exhibit may be another (higher risk) option.

ps Need any bongs? :-)

Just caught the one about your own kids' graduations, Ken. Congrats!

You are doing a lot of good things!

I will be there, for the event if I can, but later, in any case.

I thought I would bump this as it is only 2 weeks away. Just got off the phone with Wally Reed and it appears he will make it with his wife, Ruby. Wally worked on the first ascent of the Nose with Harding. He yanked on the hemp fixed rope after Warren had prusiked it and it broke. I asked Wally if it scared him when that happened and he said "No, I was standing on a ledge."

Hope to see you there!

Great Job Ken!

Looking forward to a great couple of days, Hayleys' graduation and your exhibit opening. Looking forward to meeting some of you other ST folks as well.

Go YCA!

Dang it, Ken...I found out yesterday there's no way I can make it for the opening due to work obligations.

So I'll only get to see the exhibit during the FaceLift, which is better than not at all, I suppose.

I'm pretty sure you'll be out of wine by then, so I'll bring some to share. :-)

Ken,

Thanks for the invitation with the cool picture on it!

Like L. I will bring wine for the Facelift, and mucho Pacifico's and lime for Mexican food night.

Really like your ideas, Mighty Hiker.

Looking forward to all. LRL

Thought I would bump this. The exhibit is going up and progressing well. It has been 8 months of hard work and I hope you all enjoy it. If all goes well there will be a permanent spot in the future.

Thanks for the encouragement,

Ken, I am trying to get there. I have June 5-7 off. Have to be back in San Diego on 8. Today tried to get airline to Sacramento and then rental car. Are reservations to stay in the Valley obtainable? Got calls in. You've done a great job. lrl

Again, thanks for the invite, love the picture.

Lynne, there are hotels in El Portal(Yosemite View Lodge and Cedar Lodge)and you may have tried those. My house is full those days otherwise I would offer you a place. Email me if it still doesn't work out and I will help you with alternatives. Thought about camping? Fresno is a closer airport, maybe more expensive. Hope you can make it.

hey Ken,, just curious,, you say you are focusing on the pioneer's. I've heard you have quite a collection .

Who is featured, Salathe? Or starting with the first Half dome ascent , or the spires.
It would be interesting to know which subjects you chose and how much room there was for each one.

You are doing a great job of preserving Yosemite climbing history ,and some day all these smaller exibit's will hopefully lead to a fully dedicated ,climbers museum.

I can Knott imagine the buearucratic hoops you had to jump thru just to get to where you are now.

It is amazing what you can do when you just keep pushing , relenetlessly ,towards a goal.

Sorta like Karma..

Hi John,

There will be a lot of 1930's, 1940's and 1950's stuff. Also some treats on either side. Several videos and evidence that Steve Grossman has manufactured routes. I don't want to give too much away.

Are you making it to Yosemite this summer?

Ok, I'll bite. Tell us more. Or should we have a thread with that title, to really stir things up? :-)

Looks great Kenny, I would love to be there for the occasion. If it wasn't that it was such a long drive and swim I'd be there right now. I miss my spring and fall migration to the valley, that's the biggest down side to being on the other side of the pond. The other thing that gets in the way is I can't swim very well. Anyway, congratulations I know you have put a ton of work into this, years and years worth as a matter of fact. Out there in the perimeter, tu vecchio amico- Craig
