Debbie was asking me where things are flowering at altitude...

...so I thought I'd put the question out here. I know the red buds are blooming on the way up Old Priest Grade (so going up to 2000').

What's blooming where you are in the hills?

She is looking for some flower examples for a botany class she's teaching and wants to get something not so common.

we went up Mines Rd. towards Mt. Hamilton today, we'll post another report on the flowers (hopefully the images will be ok, using an 52.5 mm extension tube with the 55mm macromicro, hand held in the wind).

San Diego's spring display benefited from the October wildfires that cleared the underbrush.

not only does it look like spring, it feels like spring, anyone have any good allergy remedies that don't involve drugging myself? Although the way I feel, drugs might be in order. YUCK! I can't wait to get high again.

We had another one of those not again events this weekend, 6" of fresh snow.

Problem is there's not enough cover to go x-c skiing, and just enough to allow ice to build up on the cliffs. I tried going climbing at lunch, but the rocks in the shade were too cold, and the stuff in sun would have been good, but I got skeered peering 100-150' up at icicles that would occasionally cut loose and fall down.

Our local rock is bad enough without additional hazards.
