If you go to Mammoth look for missing climber Matt Greene

The family would appreciate the help before winter sets in.

Hmmm Deto.. Sort of ironic to have a business that depends on a park / monument, to run, but belong to a party that closes it....

Glad I have Indian creek

As far as I can tell most national forests are not closed except for "developed areas" - campgrounds, visitor centers, etc. Campground roads with gates might be closed. It seems to be the case in Arizona that forests are still accessible.

HOWEVER, don't forget that all the bears have been ejected from the national parks and will be roaming the adjacent national forests looking for revenge. So don't go into the forest, because you will surely meet a lonely and savage fate.

Nope Tahoe is also closed. I'd suggest avoiding California all together. I hear Oregon is the place to be right now.

Sonora Pass is open.... I'm climbing there tomorrow...Mr_T just be trollin' ;)

I know it was "secret" before the guidebook, but there is so much damn rock up there. It's never going to be crowded. It would be nice to see some new faces out there

Suicide and Tahquitz climber trails are open, as are all of the other hiking trails not affected by the fire closures. However, Humber Park and any other areas with 'facilities' which need maintenance, aka, toilets, are closed (no staff to service the facilities). Humber will be closed later today or tomorrow and the parking lot barricaded according to a forestry firefighter I spoke with earlier today. They just got the directive this morning.

The forestry roads to Black Mountain and Southridge are gated but you can still access those areas via hiking. There is a sign on the door of the local ranger station here in Idyllwild indicating that hiking is legal and that Forest Adventure passes are not required to park at trailheads. No mention of requiring wilderness permits for hikers but I assume that the kiosk at the station will run out of permits soon.
