Whoah. I just Googed "Knights of the Blue Flame" and got a bunch of Anime stuff.
I was always under the impression that the blue flame was all about lighting a Bic while cutting a fart.
Was there a memo?

Millis had lots to gas about on the subject.
He was the expert on dog farts, what with Spats' predilection for such.
Wish we could contact Dillis' brother Brian. He might have some old pix of the Boy and his Dog.

Throwpie, make me some caw-fee. I needs me some mo' cow-fee!
How cool would this ride have been in the Valley? Or anyplace?
The "Boss Short" of legend. Faster than a spinning top, more powerful than a Peter Haan arm bar, able to consume gallons of gas in mere seconds.
We could do some low, slow cruising in that beauty!
SHOTGUN!
El Jefe gets to drive the first pitch.
Edit: zBrown, thx, Amigo. I always liked Signe better than Grace, too.

Tightie (I know, don't call ya that),
I'm all in on Conrad Anker and Bill Nickell.
Edit: You are so right. My wit's half what it used to be. And I used up my guesses, being all in.

Tobia, amigo mio,
I'm blind. I did not see this until just now.
I shall get back with a snappy retort.
Meanwhile, the Reverend is here and just scoped this thread.
Which is why I noticed this last post of yours.

Mouster,
In the second post on this thread, (and your second post) that image apparently taken in front of the tiny route, Short but Thin, located near the Slack start and La Escuela, at the base of El Cap. The unidentified are Alan Bard (= AB) and Kurt, the Santa Cruz sidekick of Carter. Fun shot of Millis, isn't it. As often recalled by many, Dennis could eat french fries without opening his mouth. A plus often.

That's'n't the Brain Wilson I am familiar with. Advaced placement physics. Metal shop instructor, 1959.
My family: includes one mouse and two dogs. The car is this exact model & color.the Merc was the color of the El Capitan Gauchos, that kind of blue and black.
Here is the Alma Mater for El Capitan High School, written by the band master's son, Garth Steen.
I find it Heart-warming that El Capitan High School began its run in 1958.
How fitting. I heard a rumor that they even practiced making pitons in shop class the next year.
One thing I never got straight, and I blame it on Miss Lemmon, the Spanish language teacher, who I served in my capacity as a bookseller many years after she retired, and whose reputation as a poor teacher was pretty well understood by those who took her courses. I'm certain she must have had something to do with this mis-nomer.
The mascot of our El Capitan High School was the Gaucho. Why not the vaquero, which was the Californios' equivalent of the caballero of Spain? But the gaucho of the pampas in South America? I'm pretty sure they are keeping the original mascot for the newer version of ECHS.
It's view of the Sierra Nevada will be just as nice, no matter who's looking, I'm sure.

Uh, if those two photos are the exactly the same car, then why is the license plate number different? (I can tell one is black and white and the other is colorizied (thanks Ted, say Hi to Jane and tell her I love those barbells).
BTW, you were tall for your age and are Lenna & Heidi riding one of those homemade two-by-four skateboards we popularized in 1959?
Tim was way advanced, that's a real homemade scooter he's got there.
Cool stuff and all that mouse.
One thing you could possibly clear up. They held high school classes on El Capitan in the '60's?
Bust yer buns (may be a forgettable climb, WTF do I know)

I recommend a tour on Tony Immoos' website. WOW!!!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/trimmoos/3307713413/
It so happens that Denair is like next door to Oakdale. And folks wonder why tom Frost lives out there...
Here is what you can see from some spots in the Central Valley. I grew up looking out a window from my upper bunk bed at the ridge separating Merced from Mariposa. I could only imagine where Half Dome might appear if it were taller.
Still...
there were days when it was clear as glass and the mountains marched off south and Mt. Hoffmann would appear.
And the Giants have WON THE PENNANT!!!
Yeah, BabY BY THE BAY!!!
Scooter-O!!!
zBrown: It's exactly the technique for skateboard pioneers like us. We started out with a long two by and a wooden fruit box (Cloud,s Rest Tomatoes/Le Grand) and it got shortened up later. Throwpie was a skateboard champ here on the Applegate Park tennis courts.)

I always remember it as (bless your wicked little heart Heb Caen):
I've often wondered, at least in the last few minutes or so, what it would have been like to half [sic] a view of Full Dome. C'mon people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together.
