I got 15 on me last Sat. in Alberta. When the sheep aren't in the town, they bed down on the ledges we climb around. I always hate finding ticks crawling in the car 3 or 4 days after climbing. One had migrating over to my baby the day after climbing.

Some of the people I climb with take a drybag and seal their climbing clothes in it for the drive home. The really rich guys have a dry bag for their gear. They let it "air" out on the porch when they get home.

They're even bad at the Monument this year.

They won't touch Tucker though

Wonder why?

I spent maybe an hour at Stoney Point one evening last week, pulled a $%*^& tick off the back of my neck the next morning while sitting at my desk at work. My wife was pissed, threatened to curtail my Stoney privileges :-(

'leg-humping' would somehow infer that there is some level of adulation towards you.

Ummm........no.

Just go the feck AWAY.

Edit:
There is, however, some level of irony b/w your OP and your presence here at ST....

Dug in deep...won't let go....sucks really hard....knowwhutImeen?

we tried some stuff that was in a yellow can and I don't think the active ingredient was deet. ended up just staying out of the woods which was a bummer, but better than being covered in pinhead size ticks.

Why?

Because you are as tenacious, latched-on, unrelenting, single-minded as a tick.

That's why.

Edit: I know, I know...you consider these traits to be good things...

I guess the stuff that goes on your clothes and shoes is the best alternative when you are out for long periods. Though I don't know whether that would end up leaching out onto your skin.

I spray skin and clothes knees down. Also shoes. They will embed into your laces and shoe-tongues, man! I swear.

Apogee, give it up. F*#k off!

Any tick inspired names? The Jethro Tull inspired "Thick as a Tick" route around here makes me smirk - or is that from the crunch I get when squishing the buggers while belaying.

I'd fail the wall climbing inspection for sure. I just can't flick them away. Another reason to carry a pin hammer. Much more satisfying than a rock or biner. Even earwigs die easier than ticks.

Not on your pathetic life, bluering.

Not until you and Lois are sucking down mojitos together on a veranda in Glen Gardner.

Locker the best repellent for ticks is an Avon product called "Skin So Soft".
No joke man, see if you can find some. It really works and isn't toxic to humans.
