That really sucks. Its probably no small expense for him to come to the Valley only to get ripped off twice.

Pretty poor hosts we are.

Hey guys this is Nick. I got my stuff back already Thank GOD, I was really nervous. Part of my gear is gone ( some clothes and aiders ), I got most part of it. Thank's for all the people that helped me out. Keep your eyes open. My friends Gene and Kate had their gear stolen in J Tree last year. Peace all. Nick

Now that makes me angry! Lets do a "climber crime watch" group... We should catch thieves and make examples of them... (I want to help!)
Stealing from a climber should be like stealing from the Mafia...

So what happened? Were you able to bust the guy that did it?

Regardless, glad you got it back.

Wow, good to hear you got most of your stuff back. How did you get it back?

Who can think of some crafty ways to store their gear? What about buying those metallic netting things you can buy for travelling - wrap your bag up in and lock to whatever. What I've done before is loop all my rack with this extendable wire thing that locks up with a padlock. I can loop all my cams and nuts and most other hardware up to it by stringing them through the biner holes. Acts as a deterrent atleast... I guess you could think of ways to swage your own aswell.

Who on hear has the knowledge and power to get some more storage systems within the Valley? I would be all up for some contribution.

"Yes good idea.

Where is money? Help Mr. Bush!!!!!!"

Today, by executive order, I have raised the entrance fee to Yosemite National Park to $100. In addition, the fee is good for only 3 days instead of 7. This will pay for the rentable lockers and go a long ways toward keeping out some of the undesirable elements and most minorities.
Ouch!

Nice Ouch!, I like that one.

Are there really portable lockers that fit a haul bag? Wow, I've only seen the smaller ones. Do the big ones look the same... black canisters that open in half? And you can rent them for $.75 a day? They lock, from people, as well? Not too bad I reckon.

Thats too bad hearing about gear missing, this is to expensive, trusting, sharing, and small of a community for that sh#t to be happening! Now I steal, ya.... but never someone's gear! Ohhhhh NO.

I had my stove jacked from a box in c4 last summer. Stealing anything sucks...but that thing had no resale value. Who the f*#k steals a homemade ultralight stove anyway?...I guess the same $%@%$ who steals climbing gear to use it.

Glad you got your stuff back.

Home made stove?

Hmmm. The potential for poetic justice is, at the least, fodder for satisfying daydreams.

Imagine the wretched karma of climbing on stolen gear. I'd expect it to FAIL!

there are ways around this delimia. though i've kept my stuff in c4, unlocked for many weeks, there are other places it can be safe... ask around, you might be supprised.

I left a contaminated poop tube biner in a bear box at the secret campground with some kool-aid, etc. I came back off the column the next day and it was gone. I laughed and hoped the thief handled it then touched their food.

Corey, to clarify, it's not a larger version of a bear cannister, it's one of those big lockers like you rent outside on the deck of a ski resort, you know, put in your quarters, take the key with you. Yes, they need a whole lot more. I'm surprised dnc doesn't see the potential money making opportunity in this and cover some wall of the lodge, facing camp four, with them. Even if they charged 2.00 in quarters, so many people would have the peace of mind to enjoy their forays into the wilderness.
