DE, at least you made the list...

Roving pit bull, route poaching, sandbaggers must be sub-human -- that's close to being a sub-man isn't it?

Randy,

Maybe its because you’re one of the few capable
of subbing for yourself (sorta like Momo).

In all fairness Russ: Karl with a K was nobody's sub-man. Not even the aliens messed with Karl.

Luke the Fluke did the stealing and killing almost on his own: Just him and the voices in his head.

Scott, weren't you the one who caught Luke poaching your bags you left fixed on the Captain. IIRC you guys played nice with him and didn't give him a free tumble down the talus?

That was Larry Zulim and I. Several friends had come up for a lift-off party at the base when we saw Luke jug up our ropes. We waited at the base until he rapped down, his previously empty pack now bulging with our gear. We cornered him against the wall and Punk Roy started chanting "Kill Him, Kill Him, Kill Him" we talked about it, and decided that if we started in, we would have to literally kill him, as he was a total pschyo, and would not have given up without a fight.

The immediate result was not as satisfying, but he ended up in jail for six months. Shortly after his release he was re-arrested, and I heard he got life

His grandmother was found in his trunk on his way to Yosemite, hacked to death.

Karl is a higher-up in the Obama administration.

Cilley swears he saw Luke, recently, out and about. Gave him a chill to the core.

Has there been cases where the pupil becomes more bright than the master and the roles are reversed? The former pupil becoming the master and the former master becoming the pupil?

I was never a more proficient climber than my first mentor. Never was; never would have been.

But, role reversal was noticeable when I completed a very long apprenticeship. “Why don’t you lead something for a change,” after 2 pitches of mostly 5.9. So I led him up 2 pitches of classic TM 5.10- glass.

“Great edges, eh?” I remarked after the 1t pitch. “Uh...gee, I dunno...”

Afterwards, everytime I both initiated the suggestion, the lead of every pitch, he’d get this kind of embarrassed look on his face, and we both knew he could still blow me off the face.

When I broke through to 5,11, not only would he refuse to follow (“nursing a groin injury” was the usual excuse - I’ll leave ‘wet nursing to some other pundit’), he actually pulled me off the crux, knowing full damn well I’d only have enough in me to try one more time.

Fortunately, one of the other party showed for a belayer replacement, for a send.

After I got my lead head, I wasn’t even interested in climbing if I wasn’t leading (ref: ‘when are U2old?’).

And it was only possible with an ideal belayer - my self confessed SubMan - who sent positive vibes up the cord. After all, there is something about that top stance.

Top Roping is like sex with a condom: you might as well be taking a shower with a raincoat on.

Obviously, | don’t feel like working today, do I? Last day of my month; tomorrow, a refill for what ails me.

BTW, no offense (at least, no more than usual), wasn't "Marlow" Conrad's narrator for "The Heart of Darkness," the plot for "Apocalypse Now?"

Or did I forget to take my meds today?

The "Master" never ever goes dim.

The "Master" eternally illuminates.

Otherwise it's not the "Master".

We are all submen ......

Kabala and Jebus

I'm glad you have the guts to tell. I guess most bright pupils passing the level of the master turn into a devil in the head of the master.

WBraun
I already know that you are a humble sub-man to the master. You don't have to tell us. Also I am. Still there are masters. There is no "Master".

Thanks for the sub-man definition. I had a feeling this couldn't be a thread just about Andre. So can't say = Mo? Seemed like Andre was his puppy.

BTW,

Several friends had come up for a lift-off party at the base when we saw Luke jug up our ropes.

I always heard (from several sources) that was Loomis. Guess not.

Saw Mo (Lechlinski) at home depot yesterday.... asked him if still climbed. He said, "Yes".... so I guess I am still his SubMan. Damn.... I'll never catch them dudes that were in front of me if they keep climbing!

Edit: Can't Say is not Mo.
