Moab seems like just the right place for all manner of redneck fun. It ain't Boulder, is it?
They've got some high class premanufactured homes where an okie would fit right in...just hide those wheels and act like you're better than everyone else.
Is that big bro on Shanti's rack slung with a cable? Hmm...

Well, it is raining right now... But the Jeeps are out in Force! It seems like at least some of them line up en masse and go...do something. Somewhere...
Today was supposed to be "errands day" for me, and so now I don't have to feel bad about declining the climbing offers. Teddy needs a rest day anyway, as he went on hikes at Cedar Mesa the last two days and is tired. I think he will be happy to be napping in the van as I go about doing what I need done. Exciting day on Moab for me - Propane refill and laundry!
The next 3 days actually look sort of sucky, with today being better than tomorrow. If the sky clears, then I will go check out Arches NP this afternoon. Teddy will still be happy to nap in the van(so I don't have to deal with NP dog restrictions), and the lower temps will make it so he isn't uncomfortable.

24 hr laundry w/Wifi at the place just south of city Market.
I think those gomers are headed to fling themselves Lemming like on Mashed potato hill, over by the slick rock trail. Just saw them go by a block past the library.

Been out ther jeep week a few times and never any problem. the first time I did not even know it was jeep week. just though everyone in Moab drove jeeps. They don't climb so we had no problem getting on climbs and saw very few of them in most of the places we climbed.

You just missed BrassNuts in Moab several days ago. You would have seen him at the laundromat too! It's snowing in Boulder today so enjoy that rain.

It's very pleasant, really, Rain is my favorite weather, aesthetically, if not practically. The Jeep guys aren't a problem either, just
local color. Except the year they tore up the hills in the superbowl. Other than that, I find that I really want to endear myself to them. I think I'm doing a good job, so far...

(weird, I posted this one almost an hour ago, right after okie, from my phone, and it just appeared here now)
Yup even more redneck than Boulder, less pretentious though.
Now it looks like some sort of unholy jeep parade down the main drag, in the rain. Boy -howdy. Flashing police lights, guys with big jeeps and small penises as far as the eye can see.
Might be a crackhouse day....

Smaller scale and less debauched than Sturgis, but there are parallels.

Oh yes, I have stories. Big tales, little tales, tales with climbing rock! Tough tales, sissy tales, thank god no tales of Chicken Pox.
I am in that laundry place right now. It's very quiet, only 1 other laundry doer.
Next I need to find the place to vacuum out the van.

Heading out there next week. Tried to get an RV spot and was told it was "car show" weekend......Finally found a spot but I think we may run into a circus when we get there. I doubt the cars will heading in the slots though........
Jaybro any climbing suggestions for a fellow Wyo guy. Easy to moderate cracks cause my gal is just learning to hate cracks :)

I have sympathy for your antipathy towards the Jeep mob.
Bummer that your journey took you to Moab at this moment in time.
Cheer up, there are MANY worse places you could be (as if you didn't know that already).
Love your posts here. Hope you're keeping them all.

The world does not revolove around jeeps,
Arches, yesterday;
"When you're down and out in the rain in moab,
and it's Jeep safari week, too..."
wasn't that Dylan who said that?

I love Moab, and am hankerin to ger back soon. Mountain biking the UPP, LPP, Slick Rock, Poisen Spider, Gold Rim, Moab Rim, Bartlet Wash, climbing, hiking and hangin out can all be done without Jeep interaction.
The Jeepers are cool and on several occasions offer me cold drinks when I reach the top of a long Mt. Bike climb in their territory.
